Having spent a night together after years, Rishi was emotionally exhausted as he reached the war front. Shikhar was in a similar state. But he was and had always been a stronger man than Rishi, a better man. Or atleast Rishi thought so.
Rishi watched as Shikhar fought as hard as ever, if with more anger. His brother had smiled warmly at him in the morning, meaning, he saw them in bed together. He knew it was his fault that Shikhar was not a Malvan by name even now. If he had not been a fool, Shikhar would have been his and they would have had a horde of children too.
Rishi looked away. That might never happen now. He had been a fool, utter fool. He sighed and looked at Adharva even as he fought the enemies who came his way. He saw his brother was observing Warrior Eloy and he can see why. That was talent in its own. However the look on Adharva's face was more than just admiration.
He pondered over it.-------
The sword brushed past Eloy and tore his skin a bit. Mithraos was red with fury. He was soon in the fray attacking those who came his way. He fought with Shikhar whose sword had tore Eloy's skin. Rishi saw the emperor's fury and his sword injuring Shikhar. He soon managed to distract Mithraos to himself. And then, they battled with a fury like never before.
Adharva knew how Shikhar would react. The man was panicking and had stopped fighting. Having them in the war field together is never an ideal scenario. Thankfully they have written rules which include not attacking when weapons are down and the warrior is not attacking.
However, it was Mithraos's reaction that was curious. Eloy seems to be frozen on spot as he watched Mithraos wield the sword. Rishi looked emotional and out of it and Adharva knew he will have to interfere. His brother is a great warrior. But when distracted, anyone is a danger to themselves.
He raised his sword and clashed it with Mithraos's and sure enough, the emperor turned. The war come to an abrupt halt as the two Kings faced off. The swords were lowered as the emperor's warred causing sounds that echoed in the ground and the woods.
They were both exceptional and the fight got intense and they managed to lose the shields and were now fighting with nothing between them.
The swords clanged and both turned twisting their body to go for each other's head. The swords were placed on each other's neck, not going further. Kings are never killed in a battlefield, merely imprisoned.
As everyone stood breathless not knowing what will happen, the conch was blown marking the end of the day's warfare. The sun was slowly lowering on the horizon.
The King's lowered their swords. Eloy brought the royal robes that Mithraos uses and wrapped it around him when Samarth did the same for his younger brother. Adharva and Mithraos were still looking at each other.
Adharva saw how Eloy was looking professional but somehow the concern he had for Mithraos seemed more. Not one of 'love' or 'adoration'. But more like the one you have for family. He turned away and walked back. Mithraos, however, noticed how the emperor looked at Eloy like he is a curious thing.
------------------
Eloy followed Mithraos into the tent.
"Your highness, you shouldn't have. It's unheard of," said Eloy. Mithraos looked at him.
"Two Kingdoms at war is also unheard of Eloy," said Mithraos.
Eloy looked down.
"You should get it checked by medics," said Mithraos.
Eloy looked at him.
"Mithraos, that was a reckless thing to do. You are the King. Your people rely on you. You cannot put yourself at risk like that," snapped Eloy, furious, his eyes trained on the emperor.
Mithraos quirked a lip.
"Here I thought you forgot my name El," said Mithraos and turned and walked inside leaving Eloy there. He was definitely not going into the King's chambers.
_____________
Eloy was furious. He spent the night training with warriors. He was returning from the training when he saw a man leave through the woods covered in a black blanket, trying to fit into the night. It would have fooled anyone. Eloy threw his knife which hit the person on his leg and he fell down. In no time, the person was surrounded by warriors. It was a woman. One of the women who warms the king's bed at times. She never sat right with Eloy and he was being proven right. She tried to kill herself but was stopped. Soon, the King reached.
"Who sent you?" asked Mithraos.
"Malvans," said the woman.
"Do you take me for a fool? You were running towards the wood and Malvans do not need a spy. As part of the war arrangements we both saw each other's weapons and forces," sneered Mithraos.
Eloy extended the roll of parchment he found from her hand and extended it to the emperor. The ink was not dry in it and he read the names.
"Call the Malvans. We need to discuss this," said Guardioni. Mithraos gave a nod and the messengers left.
----------
"What tale is this messenger spouting? Did you get scared of the war after all?" asked Pahlan, the Mauraye minister.
Guardioni sneered. "You think the war shouldn't be feared after what you saw today?" asked Guardioni.
Pahlan looked squeamish at that.
"I agree," said Pahlan after a moment's silence.
"This messenger had nothing to do with fear. We found a spy," said Guardioni.
"A Spy?" spat Pahlan in astonishment and disgust.
"Yes and the enemies are looking at a large heist when the two Kings fight," said Guardioni and that shut Pahlan up.
The Malvans arrived soon enough.
------------
"Why am I hearing this now, Pahlan?" asked Adharva, furious.
"Forgive my insolence, your highness. I presumed it to be a trick from them. But we have the proofs here now," said Pahlan.
With that Adharva finally looked at Mithraos and Eloy who was behind the Maheraya King.
He sat down facing them and his brothers and Head of Warriors also took their places.
