Academy Assassins

The end

"You have one day to say goodbye" Noah informs me. "Your memory erase will happen tomorrow."

I run quickly from the main hub to the star room.

Tears spring in my eyes as I run up the stairs.

He has to be here.

I pull open the door and I see him lying on the floor staring into the stars.

He sits up and twists around abruptly as he hears me enter.

I hold out my arms and close my eyes, tears rolling down my face.

I feel him slip into my arms and I fall into his chest and cry. 

His arms pull me close into his chest and I forget everything he's done to me. I forget that he hurt me and I just cry as I realise that this is one of the last times he will hold me. One of the last times he will comfort me.

"I failed,” I sob into his chest

"Don't worry" He pulls me further into him "It doesn't matter"

"I'm never going to see you again” I go weak at the knees and drop to the floor but Tobias comes down with me.

He pulls me into a soft kiss and the tears on my face wet his cheeks as well as mine.

"I love you" I whisper as I pull away. I rest my head in his chest and he runs his hands through my hair.

"I love you too" He pulls me into him as we sit on the floor.

Tears continue to stream down my face as I croak, "I'm never going to see you again." I look up into his eyes. So soft and gentle and still full of love in spite of it all. "But right now, I just want to be with you for another day. That's enough"

"I love you so much" he grins as he pulls me back into a kiss.

We only have an hour left.

He kisses me as I run my hand through his hair.

"I love you" I whisper, "I don't ever want to go"

"I know" He combs through my hair with his fingers. "I wish you would never leave either."

"I'll miss you"

"You won't need to" Tobias replies softly "I'll find you." He looks me straight in the eye "I swear. I'll find you and I'll help you get your memories back. I swear"

"How can you?" I drop my eyes "They relocate the family so no one can find us"

I wish it could be true. I wish he could find me but even if he did and he reminded me of everything they'd find out. They'd kill us both.

"I will find you this is what assassins do best. I swear on it." He kisses me again.

"But even if you did, they'd kill us. I can't know what happened here." I cry. There seems to be no way out.

"Then we'll run." Change our names regularly and run." He reassures me " We can do this."

"Okay," I nod carefully tears still streaming down my eyes. 

"Hey," He wipes the tears from my eyes. "It's okay I'll find you remember"

"I just don't want to forget you at all." I cry into his chest.

"I know" He strokes my hair gently. "It won't be for long. I swear on it."
