J H O A N A  L O U I S S E

A few weeks have passed and I can say that this summer class is going smoothly. I'm passing my quizzes and Bea and I are kinda close now.

She approaches me most of the time. I could say that she's pretty clingy when it comes to me. She likes to sit beside me (because the one who's supposed to be my seat mate is always absent) and sometimes, she'll even sit on my lap. Have I ever told you that she's taller compared to me? So just imagine that. I bet you couldn't even see me underneath the giant that is Bea.

"You're getting used to do that. You're really heavy, you know?"

"Ouch Jho. I know I'm big but I'm not heavy. Have you seen these arms? It's like, flailing beside me every time I walk." She even waved her arms in front of me. Ugh, this girl.

"Oh please, Bea. Just get off my lap."

"But why? I like it here. It's more comfortable than being in my seat. Also, I get to have this seatbelt around my waist." Bea said as she ran her hands along my arms which really was around her waist just to secure her. She's bigger than me and I do that in case my legs can't support her weight.

But as her hands met my skin, there's a different kind of feeling. It's something I've never felt before, I'm sure of that. But I brushed it off because I'm more concerned with Bea being on my lap than what I'm currently feeling.

"Baba na kasi. It's almost time for the next subject anyway."

She removed my arms wrapped around her waist and stood up. She faced me and I saw that she was pouting.

"What?" I asked with a hint of irritation just to see how she would react.

"Sabi ko nga. I'll go back to my seat." She slowly walked as if she's waiting for me to pull her back. But no, not today. Let's see how this will turn out.

My gaze was following her and she successfully went back to her seat but as she was about to turn around, I pretended that I was busy with my notes.

Oooh. This is gonna be great.

Actually, I don't know what came into me that I'm doing this to her. All I know is that I want to annoy her and if she can't handle me, then goodbye?

Now, classes have ended and she tried to approach me but here I am, still ignoring her.

"Jho?" Bea meekly said. She's very cautious of her actions and somehow my heart goes out to her because of her efforts. But not yet. I'll wait a little more.

I turned my head and raised an eyebrow.

"Do you have load? I need to text someone."

I may be testing her right now but I'm not heartless. So I reached for my phone inside my bag and handed it to her.

She took it and mouthed a soft "thank you" before hurriedly typing.

"Here Jho. Thank you." She handed me back my phone while looking down. She's the closest friend that I ever had so it kinda hurts to see her like this.
