I feel someone tapping on my leg.
"For heaven's sake, Lucille Ann Kingler. Happy birthday, loser," I hear a laughing voice.
"Who?" I ask opening my eyes to the familiar pair of gorgeous eyes and blonde hair.
"Amber!" I scream as we hug each other so tight.
"Love you too but not when you choke me to death," she says.
"I can't believe. This is gonna be awesome. I spent my other birthday either with my family or with Serenity and those bitches. Now I get to spend my birthday with another one," I say as we both laugh.
"That makes two," she says wiping a stray tear from laughing so hard.
"So what are we doing today?" I ask. She gives me an evil smile as I start to panic.
"First, its cake time, and I'll tell you as the day goes by. I have a fun game for when Enzo and Ash get here," she says.
"Aww, you guys made up. I love the hair and your outfit," I say as a stare at her. She's wearing a blue and purple silk skirt with white shooting stars, the moon, and tiny little stars. Her top is dark blue fading into black at the top. The top of the tank-top says Brave in white cursive letters.
"Thanks. First, you WILL eat your cake and ice cream," she commands.
She brings in a huge lemon cake with slices of strawberries, lots of raspberries, and coconut shavings. The middle of the cake has a huge, gold fifteen candle.
"We usually put the number of candles for your birthday but two works," I say smiling.
"Yeah, I was actually thinking of safety measures. We wouldn't want to burn the house down now, would we," she says smiling.
"I guess you're right," I respond.
"Do you want me to recite the unnecessary birthday poem?" she asks.
"I really want to know now," I say laughing.
"A year older, could not wait,
Dying soon, too late,
A year older, a blessing you say,
You didn't know you had to pay,
The price of age includes break,
Maybe next, a wish to make,
Happy birthday, the heavens praise,
Happy birthday, this was just a phrase," she recites.
I stare at her in disbelief. I have never heard such a disappointing birthday poem in my life.
She laughs and says, "Blow out your candles and make a wish."
I blow out my candles. I wish to have a happy family and friends. What's the worst that could happen? Wishes don't come true anyway.
"Where did you even hear a poem like that?" I ask.
"I heard it from inside my head. It's a family poem. That's why I dread my own birthday because I was scared of being older I guess," she says.
"So it's fine if I get older," I say raising an eyebrow.
"Exactly, you're so smart. Cake time!" she yells.
"Are we just eating cake for breakfast?" I ask.
"No, we have eggs and bacon with toast. We also have homemade vanilla ice cream for your cake," she says.
She brings in a huge platter with scrambled eggs, fried eggs, buttery toast, and crispy bacon. We eat all of it as fast as we can. I've never been more hungry, and she looks starved.
