I look behind Lucy to see a shadow in the mist it brings with it.
Her hair is long and shiny with curls bouncing at the ends. Her eyes are the same color as Linus and Lucy. I know who it is. Brooke.
"Mom," Lucy says as she tries to reach out to the mist.
"Lucy. Free me. Free the Soul Sisters before it's to late," she whispers.
She looks right into my eyes, and I feel like she's staring right through my mind. I shiver as the beautiful woman disappears. The mist soon is gone after her.
Lucy sighs as we enter the house. She sits down on the couch as we bring her presents.
Linus hands her a wooden box polished with a silver symbol on it. It looks like the Harley dragon on the front of it- the turned silver head to the side with spiky scales down its neck and the huge eye and fangs.
She opens the lid to find three shards of the shattered glass from Raven's necklace. The colors are dark blue, light green, and black.
"Lucy, I have a red piece," I whisper as I dig it out of my boot.
Raven hands Lucy her ancient pendant. The Mark of Harley with the same dragon on the back.
We insert the colors in the correct spot as we look at the incomplete Mark of Harley.
"Where did you even get these?" I ask Linus.
"A secret," he says with a wink.
"You're the worst," I say rolling my eyes.
"Lucy, here's my gift," I say as I hand her a small black lace box with a gold ribbon tied around it.
She carefully unties the ribbon to open it up and find my gem.
"No, no, no, you did not do that. Did it hurt?" she asks.
I respond laughing while peeling back the bandage on my left shoulder , "Oh, yeah. The heavens prayed for me."
It was hard to explain to them. I felt like my body was dumped into a pool of ice as I was shivering uncontrollably. At the same time, my body felt like it was being burned and my insides were scraping against each other. My skin felt cold to the bone, and I was sweating and shaking violently. I felt weak and powerless, but I gained my powers that I had been using around Lucy. The gray colors marked on my necklace turned back to their original colors. It was a great feeling. All these happy memories and the strength in my body returned that had been lost. I didn't even realize my strength was gone, my body drained of its normal life, and I was gone. I feel this surge of power and energy that I've never felt before in my life, and it all belongs to me.
She takes out the rest of the parchment to find a woven bracelet that I had made. The light pale blue letters of her name stand out against the striped dark purples and bright yellowish-orange. I look down at my own bracelet. My fingers trace the outline of the black letters spelling my name and the stripes with a bright yellowish green and a dark reddish-violet. The fabrics carefully woven with time and energy that I had. it was all worth it. Friends forever and ever even when we part from this earth which I can't bear to imagine; my hope is it's me before her, but I can only hope so much.
"Thank you so much!" she says while squeezing the life out of me. Lucy and I are almost the same height. She's barely taller than me. Her hair has more waves and curls as well. I almost forget that I'm a stronger build than hew. She's not quite willowy, but her appearance is more slender than me. Nevertheless, we are still best friends and similar enough to us each other that it really doesn't matter anymore. It's hard to imagine only six months ago I had no idea Lucy even existed and breathed the same air I breather. It's ironic that I knew her annoying, humorous brother before her.
