For Jung Taekwoon, the first of every month was Shopping Day. Although he relied on weekly deliveries of fresh produce from his personal grocery shopper, as well as jars of homemade kimchi from his mom, he firmly believed in visiting the market himself and choosing most of the products he would buy to last until the next time he was there.

That is, even though he hated leaving his home and being up close and personal with most other people on the planet.

Because of this, Taekwoon found himself shuffling through a crowd down the street towards the store with a baseball cap on his head and a mask covering his face. He hated the feeling of people being so close to him, pushing and brushing past him, but his friend had insisted that he needed to get out of his home more often to get some fresh air. That was the only reason why he walked instead of driving, besides the fact that traffic was insane most days.

"Welcome," called the store clerk absentmindedly as the door rang when Taekwoon walked in. She was staring at her phone behind the counter.

"Oh my goodness, you got tickets? I'm so jealous," said another employee, looking over the other's shoulder. "I'd love to go but I'm broke."

"That's too bad," said the first. "He's so popular these days. I'm proud to be a fan!"

As the employees continued to gush over a topic Taekwoon didn't care about, he went up and down the aisles, grabbing some eggs and produce along with milk and various nonperishable foods—all the usual for him. After a bit of hesitation in front of the shelf, Taekwoon decided to add a few cup noodles to his basket. He then strode back to the front of the store and placed his items on the counter.

"I mean, oppa is so cool!" The cashier was still at it as she very slowly, distractedly scanned Taekwoon's items. He stared out the glass front of the store as she did so, tapping his foot. Suddenly, his gaze caught on something outside.

"Oppa? You like him that much? How old is he even?"

"I don't know, but Leo is the most amazing artist ever!"

Taekwoon jumped slightly and stared at the girl for a moment before clearing his throat softly. He hastily handed over some cash to her before almost snatching his grocery bags out of the other employee's hands and hurrying out of the convenience store. He was gone before he could even hear them calling, "Thank you, come again!"

He hurried over the pedestrian walkway on the street and knelt before a pile of old, crumpled cardboard boxes. Between two of them on the ground was a cowering calico cat.

He pulled down his mask and whispered, "Hello."
