anywhere. she wished she could be anywhere but there.

"ah, sorry guys, some kid shit the canoe while shooting the rapids." the counselor exclaimed.

yeah, anywhere but there. sierra never wanted to go to the stupid broke camp, but her older sister claire insisted that she should go to make some friends.

another way of saying, 'i'm tired of watching you look sad in your room all day so i'm forcing you to go to the hellhole they call rim of the world to touch some grass and get some friends.'

the thing is, she hadn't talked to anyone during the entire time she was there, except for the counselor who kept trying to teach her the 'black man handshake'.

the only other kid who looked remotely sane was another girl named zhenzhen. sierra was too scared to talk to her though, she seemed very intimidating. she was too scared to talk to anybody anyway. she was a lone wolf in that place.

before claire left, she said something about sierra ending up being glad that she came to this camp, but so far sierra wasn't feeling it at all. she never wanted to leave a place so bad. she should be at home in the comfort of her own bed, eating her favorite snacks that she picked up from the corner store by herself. not standing in front of a shit filled canoe.

all the kids sighed, including the other counselors.

"it'll just be a few more minutes." she said.

"what you mean, ain't nobody scared of a little poo!" the employee stepped back, looking offended.

"okay, i am deathly afraid of a lot of poo, there's more poo than canoe in there." she said.

from the corner of her eye, she saw zhenzhen pull out a pamphlet then walk away from the scene. the red-headed boy seemed to notice her leave too. she believed his name was alex.

"two kids shit the van on the way over here and we still made it!" another counselor exclaimed. sierra grimaced. she was in one of those vans.

"and i don't wanna be patient zero for a pink eye epidemic so calm down." the employee snapped. sierra nodded, agreeing.

she sighed. it was burning hot outside and she was starting to regret wearing those baggy jeans.

"wait a minute, we're here for canoeing? i thought we were here for motor boating." dariush commented, making the counselors laugh. sierra chuckled a bit.

she had only encountered dariush once, and it was to ask her if she had any alcohol. of course she looked at him crazy, how the hell would anyone be able to sneak alcohol into this camp? even if they did, someone definitely would've snitched.

she knew the counselors had a cabin that they hung out and smoked and drank in but they kept that cabin protected as if it was the white house.

she wasn't surprised either, all the counselors have been high off their asses since the day camp started.

sierra tapped back into reality as she saw zhenzhen walking further away from the group and for some reason, she went with her weird instincts and followed her.

she followed the girl all the way up to the woods, wondering how she wasn't dead yet. she's fallen about four times and the branches have scratched her more times than she could count. then she heard another voice calling behind her.
