ALEC'S POV

I woke up with Magnus snuggled into my side. I pulled him closer and kissed the top of his head.

"Good morning," I mumbled. My voice was husky from sleep.

Magnus looked up at me. "Oh god. I love your morning voice." He was talking in whispers.

"Why are we whispering?" I whispered back.

He looked at me with concern. "Oh, no. You don't get to whisper. Keep talking. I only get your morning voice in the mornings and it is sexy and I love it." He was still whispering.

"Okay. Whatever you want Magnus." I reached my head forward to kiss him.

There was a knock on the door. I groaned. "Go away!" I yelled. The pounding only got louder. I got up and pulled some underwear and jeans on.

I pulled the door open. Jace was standing there. "Alec, it's 11:30. What have you been doing?" He then looked at me and realized that I had no shirt on.

"It's more like, 'what haven't you been doing, Alec?'" I turned to see Magnus standing with boxers and a robe wrapped loosely around his body.

I felt my face turn red all the way to my ears. Jace looked amused. "Oh, really? So what haven't you been doing Alec?"

"Doing what you think we've been doing. I, in fact, have been sleeping." My face just got redder as I spoke, so trying to convince Jace otherwise wasn't going to work.

He had a mischevious smile on his face. "Well, why don't we take a seat then? That shouldn't be an issue."

I gave Magnus a panicked look and sat down with some difficulty but tried not to show it. Jace saw and smirked.

I looked at Magnus. He was walking out quickly to avoid our conversation.

"Magnus, we need you too." Jace waved him back over. "Take a seat."

Magnus sat down somewhat tenderly and winced as he did it. Jace laughed. "I believe you. All you did was sleeping..." He trailed off, not even trying to hide his smile.

"What did you come here to say, Shadowhunter?" Magnus narrowed his eyes. "Did you come to just cause your Parabatai pain?"

"No. It's about Clary's birthday. Simon is keeping her busy and Izzy will be here soon." At that moment the doorbell rang. Magnus snapped his fingers again.

Izzy walked in. "Alright, what are we doing? Alec, how do you feel?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me.

I coughed. "I don't know why everyone-" I was cut off by the door being thrown open.

I looked at Magnus. Nobody should be able to open it without a key, permission, or someone opening it from the inside. I jumped to my feet and pulled out my Seraph blade. Then I put it away and sat down.

"Chillax guys. It's just me." Jo walked in and sat down next to Magnus.

"I thought you were supposed to stay in the infirmary?" I looked at her, curious.

"I got bored and walked out." She shrugged. There was something different about her. She seemed more carefree.

"How'd you get in?" Magnus looked perplexed.

"Alec left his key on the table by my bed. He was in such a hurry... How are you feeling Alec? You can stand if you want. You don't have to sit..." She smiled.

"All I did last night was sleep! Why does everyone think otherwise?!?" I was failing at defending myself.

She smirked. "Well... You ran out after Magnus, you're nervous now, and you left several things that you need because you were in such a hurry. Someone who only slept doesn't look so tired. You are also getting embarrassed and extremely defensive. It's obvious, Alec." She had switched back into super Shadowhunter mode.

"Whatever," I grumbled under my breath.

"So, anyway." Magnus held his hands up. "Clary's birthday..."

Izzy hopped up. "Yeah. Can we do it here Magnus?"

"Of course, Isabelle." He smiled. "All you have to do is get the presents. I know exactly what to do. It'll take a whole five minutes for me decorate."

Everyone sat and stared at him. "Well, go on. Go buy Clary her gifts. Make them good. You only turn 20 once. Unless you're me. Then you can turn 20 as many times as you want." He smiled and wiggled his eyebrows.

I got up and walked out. Magnus is not one to be messed with. "Have fun, sugar pie!"

I could hear Jace's laughter as I walked out.

I walked on the sidewalk and wondered what she would want. I saw her as my sister, but the super step-sister kind of one. I didn't really get along well with her. I walked by storefront after storefront until I saw something that would be perfect.
