CHAPTER 8

We leave and walk home. Once I'm home and changed, Aunt Mito tells me to grab something from the store real quick, so I head to the convenience store. On my way there I see a little boy, probably in middle school, being picked on by some taller middle schoolers. I instinctively approach them.

"Hey, you." I say assertively.

The boys turn and face me.

"Oh, it's just some girl. That's some attitude you've got there! You wanna hang with us later!" They laugh.

"Sure! But could I see that kid for a sec? I've got some history with him." I say menacingly.

They wince a bit and say, "Okay, but we're not through with him yet."

"Now. Sorry, I don't have much time." I tell them.

"Pushy? Fine make it quick." They hand him over and I drag him into an alleyway.

Oh no! Poor kid, he looks so scared! I smile at him reassuringly. He looks at me confused.

"Wait here." I whisper, and step out of the alley.

I approach the gang.

"You done?" He says impatiently.

I grab him by the cuff and say, "You got some nerve picking on my brother like that."

He shivers for a sec, then yells for his lackies to help him. There's only three others, so I can take them. I release him and kick his legs, causing him to collapse. I yank him up by the hair and yell in his ear, "IF YOU PICK ON THIS KID AGAIN I'LL GIVE YOU A BLOOD CYST FROM PULLING ON YOUR HAIR, Y'HEAR!" I kick him back over to his friend's feet as they take him and scram. I put my hands on my hips and smile proudly.

"Woowwwww!" Says a voice in awe.

I turn to see the boy from the alley looking at me with high admiration. His eyes are shimmering.

"Where did you learn to do that?!" He exclaims excitedly.

I smile, "It's a secret!"

"Do you think you could teach it to me?!"

"Hmm..... probably, but I'm actually on my way to the store-"

"My name's Zushi! Please allow me to assist you, master!" He says while bowing.

I blink and say, "Okay, sure! I'm Gon, so you don't have to call me that!"

I give him my contact information, retrieve the groceries, and head home.

The next day I wake up and have breakfast after sleeping in a bit, since it's Saturday. Today, me and Retz are gonna go clothes shopping. I eat breakfast and get ready, then I leave to go to the agreed spot, but I'm stopped when I see Zushi outside my door.

"Hey, Zushi! What are you doing here...?" I ask confused.

"Hi master Gon! I was waiting for you to come out so we could train!" He says brightly.

"Oh...! But um... I'm kinda heading somewhere..?"

"Please allow me to accompany you, master Gon!"

"Um... sure..! I think it'll be okay!"

Me and Zushi meet up with Retz who's looking at me with a confused look.

"Who's that?" She says.
