Blessings in Disguise

Chapter 2

I had finished all of the rest of my classes acting as Owens guide for the rest of the day but no more interesting conversation happened with him the rest of the day in fact he barley spoke to me for the rest of the day. I shrugged it off remembering my mom's words earlier that morning.  Ashley had drill team practice so I didn't have to drive her home today.

I pulled into my driveway putting the Sudan in the park and grabbing my bag I walked inside. "hey she said in a rather perky tone. " hi mom, what was that you were going to talk to me about earlier?" I asked. "oh right please sit down" she said  motioning to the couch putting her laptop away. "okay" I said work furrowed eyebrows the confusion definite on my face.  " honey this might seem weird now but I got offered a job". 

I put a dry look on my face.  This is what she had me rush home for? " okay what's so weird about that" I asked with a hint of attitude. 

"well not weird persay but,  ah to heck with the crap I'm a just come out and tell you,  the job offer is in Miami and I have to be there in a couple of weeks"  I was shocked with the news does she mean we'd be moving to Miami?

"how long will we be there?"  "well we won't be there it will just be me and for 2 years" " what do you mean just do you expect me to living e here by myself for 2 years?"

" well aunt Nina will be coming into town every couple of weeks to check on you I figured it'd be better let you finish up the school year which is only 7 more months and then you can visit me on the summer and yeah"

" what about holidays in and uh.. " don't worry most holidays I'll be able to come down don't worry I'll handle all the small details you worry about keeping school and such together

you'll still have your phone,  ashley and aunt Nina it will be okay I promise."  this is a lot of information to take in but I think I could handle a couple years by myself besides I'm 16.

" okay well I got a lot of homework to do I'll let you pack"  " thanks darling for understanding don't worry everything will work out"

I was in my room studying still trying to comprehend my mom's calmness with all of what's going on. I remembered I needed to call Ashley after my mom was done talking to me,  but I also needed someone to talk to.  I dialed her number into my phone she finally picked up.  " hey" she answered "I have... News"  I said pausing between have and news because I was deciphering between if it was good or bad news.  " what"  she said with worry in her tone when she heard me pause.  " my mom got a job offer in Miami and she is going to take it."  "HELL NO YOUR NOT LEAVING ME HERE I DON'T CARE WHAT I HAVE TO DO EITHER KIDNAP YOU OR MAKE YOUR MOTHER GIVE YOU UP FOR ADOPTION AND ADOPT YOU.  YOUR NOT LEAVING" I heard her on the virge of tears begins the angry tone. "I'm not leaving my mom is my aunt is just going to be visiting every couple of weeks other than that I'm going to be here alone"  I heard her calm down before getting excited about something.  "omg"  she she squealed.  "your mom never let's you do anything this could be your chance to shine you can get dates and hang out with them alot"  I was re evaluating the whole mom in Miami thing "maybe this won't be so bad after all" .  I was actually starting to get excited. "yea it will be amazing but your mom can't know that if she can't trust you she probably won't go."  she had a point "your right but ok I'm going to go" okay text me? " "  sure" I said and hung up. I came downstairs and saw my mom working in the kitchen. "hey mom I have a question about all of this"  "what's up?"  "will I need to be getting a job to pay bills send stuff"  she kind of laughed.  "no my boss agreed to cover all the bills here at least until you move out and I will be sending you a couple hundred every two weeks for groceries and so you have some spending money"    " oh  that will be helpful thanks"  I was startled directly after I finished my sentence with my phone ringing.  It was Ashley I decided to step outside to answer it.  " hello"  "omg I can't believe I forgot to tell you"  "what"  " okay so you remember that guy you showed around school today? Oh what was his name...  I oden, open..."  " owen"  I buzzed in "YES THAT ONE"   " well I saw him on my way out of drill team and he asked me about you if you were single and stuff"  "WHAT YOU SPACED SOMETHING THIS BIG?!?"   "I said you were single and gave him your number to."  I was so nerved up the hottest guy in school has my number!  " umm thanks?"  " your welcome"  she said then hung up.  I was about to go back into the kitchen when my phone rang again and this time it was a number I didn't recognize.
