- Christina's POV -

"Christina Aguilera: America's Sweetheart." Allison laughed, walking into my living room, magazine in hand.

"That's what it says?" I asked.

"It's literally right on the front cover." She said, throwing the magazine at me.

I shook my head and laughed as I read the headline.

"God, these articles are so stupid." I said, flipping through the pages.

"Yeah, but it's what America wants to read."

"Surely they don't believe all this crap about 'the perfect, all-American, Teen Queens'. I mean, as if they believe Britney is actually a virgin. Saving herself for marriage my ass."

"Hey, if they wanna believe it, then they'll believe it." She shrugged.

"I guess."

"Anyway, your car is waiting out the front."

"Where am I going?" I asked, as Allison rolled her eyes.

"You have a recording session today. You're finishing up your Christmas album." She said.

"I am?" I asked.

"Yes. Now get your ass moving!" She said, basically dragging me off my couch.

We walked outside to my car and we climbed inside with around five other people. It was a big and full car, unfortunately.

"Christina, your Rolling Stone cover is set to come out in a few days." Said Irving, my manager.

"I know. And?" I asked.

"I just want you to be prepared. There's going to be some controversy along with it."

"I'm ready for it. Honestly, it's not even that big of a deal." I shrugged.

"I know it's not to you, but it is to a lot of other people."

"I don't give a shit about other people." I said.

"Christina-"

"No. I'm not 'America's Sweetheart'. The sooner people realize that, the better." I said forcefully, hoping to end that conversation. And I did. No one, apart from Allison, spoke another word until we arrived at the studio.

Everyone filed out the car one by one and we all headed inside the studio. Once inside, I greeted my producers and we went to work straight away.

"Christina, that's good. We can probably wrap it up about now." The producer said after about two hours of recording.

I nodded and gave them a thumbs up through the glass. I took my headphones off and placed them on the mic. As I opened the door to step outside I bumped straight into to someone.

"Shit, sorry." I said, stepping out the way.

"You should be." He snapped, nudging past me.

"Excuse me?" I asked, putting my hand on my hip.

He stopped walking and turned around to look at me, "You heard me."

"Yeah, I did. But for your sake I'm hoping I heard wrong."

He smirked as he leaned against the door frame, "Listen, I'm Adam Levine. I don't have time for you, honey."

I raised an eyebrow, "Adam Levine?"

"Don't tell me you don't know who I am." He said, disbelievingly.

"Can't say I do." I shrugged.

"Fine. I don't-" He began, but was cut off by the door opening.

"Christina, let's go!" Allison said, sticking her head in the room.

I got half way to the door before Adam spoke again, "Wait. You're Christina Aguilera!"

"And you're an ass!" I said, flipping him off as I walked out.

"Who was that guy?" Allison asked, as we were walking towards the car.

"I don't know. He said his name was Adam Levine. You know him?"

"Adam Levine? He's the lead singer of that band Maroon 5." She said.

"Oh, a band. No wonder I didn't recognize his name."

"What was he like?" Allison asked, a little too excited.

"A total asshole."

"Good." Irving chimed in.

"How is that good?" I asked.

"That means you'll stay away from him. He's bad for your image."

"Other than being a jerk what's so bad about that guy?" I asked.

"Have you been living under a rock?" Allison asked.

I rolled my eyes, "No."

"Then how can you not know all about Adam Levine?"

"Because I have better things to do than learn about an obnoxious jackass." I said.

"I'm sure he's not that-"

"To answer your previous question, Christina." Irving cut in."Adam Levine is the bad boy of music at the moment. He's got a reputation like no other. I think that's reason enough to stay away from him."

"A bad boy, huh?" I asked, with raised eyebrows.

Allison groaned, "See what you've done now? You know she has a thing for bad boys."

"Not this one. I promise you now, I'm staying away."
