- Christina's POV -
Irving didn't say a word to me for the rest of our trip in New York. He didn't even say a word to me on the plane flight home. It took until we were half-way from LAX to my house that Irving finally spoke.
"Live TV, Christina. Live TV." He said, his face expressionless.
"To be fair, one of you could of at least told me Levine was going to be on the show." I said.
"You should have controlled yourself, Christina."
"It's not my fault. That guy just manages to push all the wrong buttons at once."
"Well, you need to make sure that doesn't happen again." Irving said.
"Whatever." I mumbled.
The rest of the drive we were all silent. There were some mumbled goodbye's when they dropped me off at my house but that was about it.
I walked inside my house and was greeted by Jorge.
"Hey, babe." He smiled.
"Hi." I replied.
"How was New York?" He asked.
I let out a small laugh, "Oh, you have no idea."
"Actually. . ." He trailed off, as he clicked on the TV. I should of known that by the time I had gotten home from New York that my fight with Adam would be all over the news, but for some reason it never crossed my mind.
"You saw, huh?" I asked.
He nodded as he turned up the volume on the TV.
"Christina Aguilera VS Adam Levine. What did Adam do to make the teen star drop the F-bomb on live television? And what do other celebrities have to say about the incident that's making headlines? Find out next on MTV news."
"Wow." I said, taking a seat on the couch.
"Yeah. Wow." He replied.
"Have you seen the news report?" I asked.
"Yes, but the celebrity comments are new, I haven't heard those yet."
I nodded slowly as we sat in silence waiting for the full story to come back up on the TV.
I cringed slightly as they rolled the tape of the argument. There goes my image. At least I won't be America's Sweetheart anymore. That's what I want, right?
"We brought you the news of Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine's war of words earlier and now other celebrities are speaking out."
The footage then cut to Carson Daly being interviewed about the matter, "I don't really have much to say. I mean, the argument clearly caught everyone off guard. It was shocking but at the end of the day, it's live TV. Stuff like this happens all the time."
It then cut to Justin Timberlake being asked about it. "Listen," Justin started, "All this is, is two people having a disagreement. It doesn't need to be documented and publicized for the whole world to see. Christina lost her cool for two seconds on camera and whose fault was it? Not hers, man. That's all I'm saying." There was a pause for a second while Justin was being asked another question. "Whose side am I on? If I had to pick a side then it'd be Christina's. C'mon, man, I've known the girl since I was twelve whose side do you expect me to choose?"
There were then a few more celebrities being interview about it but I kind of lost interest. What I did notice though is that Adam wasn't mentioned once by any celebrity. It was all about how I slipped up and how it was my fault. I couldn't help but think what about Adam? It was equally his fault as it was mine but so far I was coping all the stick for it. That just pissed me off even more.
----
Days later people were still talking about my argument with Adam. I was surprised at how largely it blew up in the media.
Adam had gone out and said some things about me on camera. Not that I really cared or listened to what he had to say. Neither did I really listen to my mother when she called and gave me an hour long lecture on respect and restraint while in the public eye. I appreciated what she was saying but it wasn't anything I hadn't heard a billion times before from countless other people.
----
It had been classified as an 'all-out war' by now. With 'Christina VS Adam' as most headlines. I hadn't said a word since the incident but of course Adam had gone out and ran his mouth some more. My plan was to just ignore Adam and pretend none of this ever happened, but that plan was kind of shot in the ass when I found out that Adam would be attending the VMAs as well as myself. Just great.
"You feeling ok?" Allison asked, as we were sat in the car on the way to the award show.
"Yeah. Fine." I shrugged.
"Adam is going to be here tonight. You do know that, right?" She asked.
"It's only been all the media have talked about for that last week, I think everyone knows by now." I replied.
"We just want you to be ready. This is the first time you'll be commenting on anything to do with the matter. You may even run into him. You just have to be prepared."
"If I run into him I'll fuc-"
Allison cut me off, "There's your first mistake, honey. You need to keep your language one hundred percent clean tonight. The last thing we need is another PR fiasco."
"I can't make any promises, Ally. When I'm around Adam I just seem to lose my cool."
"Try your hardest for tonight. We need to pull tonight off without a hitch."
I nodded as I looked ahead and realized that we were pulling up to the red carpet.
I turned to Jorge and gave him a half smile, before he squeezed my hand and whispered, "Everything will work out fine, baby. Don't worry about a thing."
He kissed me softly before we both got out the car and were immediately over whelmed by the amount of noise.
The crowd screaming my name gave me a reassuring feeling that tonight was going to be amazing, even if Adam Levine was there.
