Dianne walked into the beauty salon and went straight up to the desk, smiling at the beautician stood behind it.
"Morning" the woman said as Dianne stopped in front of her. "Have you got an appointment?"
"Yep, under Dianne."
"Ah, yes. Come through." The woman turned and led Dianne to a chair nearing the back corner of the room. "Are we waxing and tinting?"
"Yes please" Dianne said with a smile as she put her bag down by her feet and sat down in the chair. She leaned back whilst the woman busied herself with getting the wax heated and the dye ready.
"Close your eyes for me please." Dipping a flat wooden stick into the pot of melted wax, the woman smeared it round Dianne's eyebrows, setting to work on neatening them up.

Around half an hour later, she ran a cotton pad over Dianne's eyebrow to clear away any lasting tint and threw it in the bin. "All done" she said. Holding a hand-held mirror in front of Dianne's face, the Australian opened her eyes to see her new eyebrows, along with the gap that now sat in the arch of her right one.
"Thank you, they look really nice" she lied. Why are you getting so angry over your eyebrow?! She was led back over to the desk to pay before she walked out of the salon and jumped into her waiting Uber to take her back home. The whole ride home Dianne couldn't help but stare at the gap in her eyebrow; it was slowly making her more and more mad. One comment she thought, might just send her over the edge so she messaged Joe.
D: Don't talk to me when I get home x
Sighing heavily, she sat back in her seat and stared out of the window, people-watching.

"Here you go" the driver said as he pulled up along side the path.
"Thank you." Dianne tried her best not to sound blunt though she wasn't entirely sure if it had come across that way. She got out of the car and walked up to the apartment quickly.

From in his office, Joe heard the front door being pushed open followed by light footsteps that walked through the hall and into the spare room. Pausing his game, Joe jumped up from his chair and went to find his girlfriend who was angrily throwing some of her freshly washed clothes into drawers.
"Hi gorgeous" he said softly. Dianne, who, at this point felt like she could breath fire, snapped round quickly, dropping the t-shirt in her hands to the floor.
"Did you not get my message?! She snapped.
"No, I've been working for my gaming channel all day." Joe eyed her suspiciously as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, checking his messages. He scanned over it and was quickly confused. "Why can't I speak to you?" he asked cautiously.
"Because" she grumbled, "the stupid woman at the salon dropped wax into my eyebrow hair and ripped a massive chunk out. Do they look ok?"
"Yes" Joe nodded, "they look fine."
"No they don't! Look at them! There is a massive gap in the middle of my eyebrow."
"I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't of said something."
"Don't lie Joseph." Having grown up with a sister, he knew there was no easy way out of this situation so, Joe being Joe, decided the best thing to do was to side with Dianne.
"Fine, they don't look the best..." he muttered hesitantly, regretting it instantly at the look on Dianne's face.
"What do you mean 'they don't look the best'?! Are you serious?!"
Bu- Dian- whatever I say at the minute will be wrong, won't it?"
"No" she said abruptly.
"Don't lie Dianne" Joe imitated, accent and all, something he really, really, REALLY regretted straight away. Shit Joseph, not a good idea. Idiot. Dianne kicked out at the top she had already thrown to the floor.
"Are you serious?" She said, her voice calm and collected- something that scared Joe. He decided it was best to keep his mouth firmly closed so he pressed his lips together, biting back and swallowing the sarcastic comment that sprang to mind.
"I don't want to talk to you." Joe knew enough to realise that now was a good time to stand down and back away so that's what he did, backing all the way out of the spare room and into his office.
"For gods sake Joe" he muttered to himself as he slumped into his gaming chair. "You're such an idiot." He was annoyed at himself for having not checked his messages, then maybe nothing would have happened. But, Joe thought as he pulled his headphones on, she would have been even more mad if he hadn't spoken to her.

Dianne threw the last piece of clothing into a drawer and kicked it closed. Falling out with Joe had admittedly worsened her mood but she was far too stubborn to apologise first. After all, he didn't read your message Dianne. But then again, you'd have been more mad if he didn't speak to you. She sighed heavily knowing that the gap in her eyebrow had made them fall out because she was angry. But she wasn't angry at Joe so it was unfair to take it out on him, and she knew it. Dianne had seen in his eyes that he was upset at her outburst and willed herself to go and apologise but the devil on her shoulder held her back, telling her she hadn't done anything wrong. Dianne fell backwards onto the bed, staring at the ceiling, resting her hands on her stomach and sighed heavily. "For gods sake Dianne. You're such an idiot."

After a moments thought, the angel had won the battle and it seemed to drag Dianne out of bed and to Joe's office door, which had been closed to keep the noise to a minimum when Joe shouted at his screen. She opened the door and walked over to where Joe sat in his chair, standing next to him and running one hand over his head to get his attention. Joe paused his game and took off his headphones quickly, leaving them to sit on his keyboard as he waited for her to speak first.
"I didn't mean to snap or shout or anything. I took my anger out on you and I shouldn't have. Sorry Joe" she said rather timidly, clasping her hands in front of her body. Joe didn't say anything but reached out for her waist and pulled her onto his knee.
"Thank you for apologising" he said, nuzzling the side of his face into her neck, making her giggle. Dianne was quick to wrap her arms around his neck and hug him tightly, pressing kisses to any bare skin she could find.
"I don't deserve you" she breathed into his neck. "What have I done that's so good to get you?"
