I told Ethan about everything. he said he was happy for me. He invited me over for lunch, and I agreed. He said that my mom should come too. he had an announcement to make. I was confused. what did he need to tell us?

I came over, and sat across from him. we got the food, and Ethan cleared his throat. "This is pretty unexpected news. Umm...My PET scan...lit up. Like a string of lights connecting across my body. I watched in disbelief. No. These words were not coming out of his mouth. No, This wasn't supposed to happen. Forever, Ethan. Forever! tears filled up my eyes and I watched him. My sweet Ethan. "Let's go home,' I said, tugging at mom's sleeve. "No, Ariel, Please wait." My mom said. "I'm leaving, Ok?" I was now shouting. "Ariel!" She pleaded. I grabbed my bag, and marched out the door. I stuffed my hands into my pockets, and headed home. "Ariel!" I heard footsteps, and turned to see Ethan running toward me. "Please tell me this is just a prank," I whispered. "I wish..." Ethan said, Shaking his head. I hugged him. I cried into his jacket. I hoped it was just a dream. I would wake up and it would all be over. He walked me home. He stayed there, and comforted me until about 11:00 P.M. "I love you, Ethan, I know our forever wasn't always, and that now our Forever is shortened, but I love you. " I said. A quote by C.S. Lewis reminded me of this moment: "I never knew grief felt so much like fear,"

That night, I couldn't sleep. The thought of Ethan leaving me as stuck in my head with superglue. Suddenly, I felt like I was losing breath, like I was drowning. "Mom...Mom!" I yelled. She came running. "Sweetie what's going on?" She asked. She saw my pained expression. Her eyes went wide, then she called an ambulance.
