It's Best If I Let You Go

Kai POV

I'm waiting for Jennie to come out of her dorm. It's 3 in the afternoon and I decided to let Jennie free. I know she likes me, but she doesn't love me, not like Taehyung. While I would be mad if she was using me but, her feelings for me were all true. While I do wish we can stay together forever, but it's best if I let you go.

"Kaiii!!"

I look towards the direction of the voice. It was Jennie. That's probably the last time she'll call my name like that, run to me like that, and look at me like that. At that moment, I wanted to erase my thoughts of us breaking up, but, I have to.

"Hey, Jen. Listen, I need to talk to you."

"What is it." She said with an innocent head tilt.

"Baby, promise you won't cry or get mad?"

"Of course Kai, What is it?"

"Umhm... I don't know how to say this," I laughed awkwardly,  " Jennie, I umhm, I want to break up with you...."

Her beautiful smile dropped.

"W-why?"

"Jennie, I read your diary entry from last night, and I think that it's best if I let you go. It's for the best of us."

"But, I'm so close to falling in love with you. I'm almost close to forget about him and love you and only you."

"Jennie, no. You love him after a year. That means something. And you were in a relationship with the most good looking guy in the world."  I tried joking to make her less upset. And it worked. She started smiling again.

"But, what about you? What will you do?"

"Jennie, I'm fine. And I'll probably stay at the school. You know, those tuitions weren't cheap. And, for right now, I'll be your best guy friend."

She smiled. "Thank you, for everything."

"Well, if your thankful, have some ice cream with me?"

She giggled. "Of course."

As we were walking, I thought, I did the right thing to let her go. She'll find happiness and I'll find mine
