"Can I sit here?"
Darshan looked up to the voice and saw the boy who was with Ashely last day.
Darshan smiled feebly and said, "Yes, please."
"I need to talk to you Darshan.", Kai said sitting in front of him.
"I'm listening.", Looking at his coffee Darshan responded.
"You got us wrong yesterday.", Kai let out a breath.
"Who? You and your girlfriend.", Darshan looked up.
"Ashley is not my girlfriend. She is just my good friend.", Kai confirmed that.
"Okay.", Darshan nodded simply.
"It's not okay Darshan. She has been waiting for you from so long. And you just left saying good bye. You did it wrong.", Kai said.
"Really? And what about me? I came from India, I fought with my parents and just ran from there just for whom? Ashley. I was so excited and happy that I would meet the love my life after so long but what I saw, should I've stayed there after that?", Darshan questioned.
"I know what you saw it was not at all acceptable for you but you took it in a wrong way. There's nothing like that between us. She loves you more than anything in this world.", Kai uttered.
Darshan smiled, "It seems you got to know her so much in such a short time."
Kai smiled and said, "I did. And I at least know how much she loves you. How much she suffered because of you. I don't wanna make you feel guilty Darshan, but I think you need to know this. She tried to kill herself twice just because of you."
Darshan's head jerked to his side and Kai nodded slowly.
"She lost her best friend and love together. She was broken. And I tried so hard to fix her, to give her a normal life. And finally she became normal, she started smiling. Darshan I don't want you to break her again. From the moment you came back she started crying again. Don't let her break please. She loves you and I know you do that too. So just go to her, tell her how much she is important to you. Just hold her when she'll break this time.", Kai stopped.
Darshan was listening to his every words very carefully. He didn't even realise when tears scrolled down from his eyes. Because he never wanted to hurt Ashley.
Yes he said those words to her, he broke her heart, but when he said that he break his own heart too. He made her cry, then cried more than her in silent.
He never wanted to leave her side. But before he could talk to Ashley his parents took him away to India. He couldn't do anything. Every moment of these 9 months he suffered too as much as Ashely did. Not just Ashley lost her best friend and love, he lost them too. And when he came after so long just to see her and he saw something he was not just expecting, it broke him again, he got angry and hurt.
But now after listening to Kai's words he was feeling broken more. He did hurt that girl so much that it leaded her to kill herself and here Darshan felt something stabbed his back so deep. He never could imagine the girl loved her life so much, tried to end it just because of him. What could be bad than this?
"Don't blame yourself Darshan, it's not your fault.", Discovering the tear in his eyes Kai said.
Darshan came back to scenes.
"Thank you.", Darshan said swallowing his tears.
Kai only smiled. He was about leave when Darshan stopped him, "Can I ask you something?"
"Yah.", Kai nodded.
"You love her. Don't you?", Darshan asked.
Kai was not at all expecting this question from him. He looked at him and said, "That doesn't matter. She loves you, That matters."
Passing a smile Kai left the cafeteria.
