Toby sighed, going through the "Creative" section on Twitch. He had just finished a five hour stream, jam packed with editing, playing, and doing a Q & A for his chat. But now? He was exhausted. He just needed to find something to help him get ready to sleep.
One thumbnail popped up next that caught his eye. It was a girl, the clip of it was her seeming to dance in her chair, while a makeup brush was clutched in her other hand. He was intrigued to say the least, moving his mouse to click the video.
A hip hop sounding song played in the background, while this girl brushed what seemed like foundation over her face. A makeup video, on Twitch, was rare. Not many are ever shown, or get popular enough to have a following like this. Almost half a million viewers currently, and Toby was one of them. He browsed through her info, finding her name was Sarah, and she also had a YouTube channel.
He clicked the link, having YouTube be brought up in a second tab. There were so many videos, but the number next to the red 'Subscribe' button caught his eye. Ten MILLION? His eyes widened, and he scrolled through her most recent videos. Most of them were makeup, but as he neared toward the bottom, he caught a glimpse of a few gaming videos. Specifically, CS:GO and a lot of horror games. These videos seemed to have the most views, but who would doubt that? Gamer girls are rare, so finding one attracted a lot of attention.
He went back to the Twitch tab, and muted that sound, while he had clicked on the most recent CS video. She was good. Very good. Her team almost won every match, her coming in clutch most of the time. Her commentary was good as well. It was mostly humor, dark humor. Things that him and the other Misfits would say during their videos. He would find himself laughing along quietly to her jokes, reminding himself to save those in a file in his brain to use them in the future.
Her horror games were good too. Yes, she'd get scared shitless and die several times, but the way she raged after attempting (and failing) to beat boss levels made him smile. He liked her personality.
Going back to Twitch, he saw her applying the last of her eye makeup, seemingly almost done with her face. He wondered why all of her newer videos were centered around makeup, but she hadn't uploaded any new gaming videos in a while.
"Alright guys, I am letting my face go for now. I don't need to look fake as fuck. I will be going out in a bit, but I have a good few minutes to spare before I go. What about a quick Q & A?" he heard, and thought for a second, before typing his question in the chat bar and pressing send.
It seemed to go unnoticed. So he tried again. And again. Getting frustrated from the speed of the chat flowing in, all wanting their questions answered as well, he went to the donate tab. Typing in a quick message, he hit submit, and his question popped up on the screen.
"Wow, thanks for the $50, TobyOnTheTele! Wait, is that really Toby?" she asked, and he smiled. She shook her head, reading the question. "I checked out your YouTube channel, why don't you play games anymore?"
"Well, Toby, if it really is you," she giggled, "I found that while I love playing video games, there is something about doing makeup that is calming and relaxing. I still play some games on Twitch, and I do play games in my free time, but mostly it's all makeup. Gotta work on that mental health, bro." She said, tapping her head and winking.
She answered a few more questions, before another $50 from Toby popped up. (What, he knows what it's like to be a YouTuber. Gotta help one another out sometimes!)
"Toby, stop spending money on me. But, to answer your question, my Twitter handle is @oldxsoulsx. As is my Instagram." she said, smiling again at the camera.
"But unfortunately guys, that is all the time I have for today. Gotta get ready for my hot date." she said, raising her eyebrows suggestively. She read the comments in silence for a second, then laughing when people got confused.
"No, no boyfriend. Honestly, having a boyfriend is too much work. I'd rather just not. I'm meeting up with a good friend of mine. She spent her last semester of college in Costa Rica and I haven't seen her much so we're going out for a drink.... Yes I'll make sure to take a shot for every new subscriber I got today. I'm going to be blacked out." she joked, and that reminded Toby. He did want to subscribe.
He clicked the subscribe button on both YouTube and Twitch, and the Twitch notification popped up.
"Thanks Toby, for the subscription. I feel kinda bad that you spent $100 just to talk to me. You know, you could've just DM'ed me. But I feel flattered. I'm a fan."
"Well guys, it's time to end it here, as a reminder, put those notifications on for when I go live, follow me on my Twitter and Instagram, and YouTube of course. Don't go searching for my finsta, you'll end up finding all my nudes, and while a lot of people wanna see all of this, its definitely not happening. Byeeeee!" she jokes, gesturing to herself before putting up her "Stream has ended" message.
Toby had been watching her videos afterwards for a good 2-3 hours. What he was trying to find to make him fall asleep, instead kept him up way later than he meant to.
It was almost five in the morning before he basically crawled into his bed, and he grabbed his phone, going to Instagram and sending Sarah a quick DM.
"Hey, just finished watching videos on your channel. You're extremely funny. Glad I subscribed and found you. Let's keep in touch, maybe play some games sometime soon!" he typed out, hitting send and letting his head hit the pillow before he was out cold.
