My legs dangle as I sit on the railing of the balcony and think for a while. The night air is freezing and the wind blows softly, causing me to shiver.

"Hey, Jessie." I hear Jake's voice.

"Hey." I reply.

I hear his shoes as they kick small rocks across the concrete from the eroding roof above the balcony. I see him rest his crossed elbows on the concrete railing that I'm seated upon, from the corner of my eye I notice him looking at me- taking in all of the features of my face, "So, what are you doing out here all alone?" He asks, his voice quiet on the calm night air.

"Thinking." Is my simple answer.

"About what?" He questions.

"Nothing." I say.

"Then you aren't thinking." I see him smirk.

I glance at him with an annoyed look, "You are just as irritating as Drew." I state, sarcastically.

He clears his throat and swiftly sits beside me on the railing with a graceful leap, "About Drew," He begins.

"Oh, don't even do this!" I tease.

"Nah, I just want to know; You don't have feelings for him?" He asks, "Cause you sure act like it. Or at least, he does." He gestures behind us and I have a brief look at Drew.

Drew sits on the floor comfortably inside. He holds his hands close to the fire, looking wistfully into it, as if deep in thought. His white-dyed hair ruffles from the wind every time the breeze becomes a sudden powerful wind and gusts through.

I quickly turn back to Jake, "We've been best friends for years. If he did like me, I would've thought he would've talked to me about it, or something." I state clearly, but subtly so Drew doesn't hear anything.

I feel bad because this is the first time I've spoken about him behind his back. I have this weird feeling that I shouldn't, but Jake wants to talk about him and I can't just leave or not say anything, otherwise that'll make him think I'm keeping secrets from him.

I look at Jake, taking in his features. His dark brown hair is styled to the side, so it's swept left, whereas Drew's white-dyed hair is curled almost back a bit so it sticks up, but curls back a bit over the front part of his head. It's hard to explain. Jake has the most beautiful dark green eyes that sparkle in the warm firelight and almost look completely black from the darkness of the night.

As soon as I realise I'm staring, of course he does. His eyes flicker towards me and he smiles, beginning to chuckle quietly. I blush and turn my head away from him, embarrassed.

I feel his hand brush my cheek and a smile finds itself placed upon my lips, "Wow." He whispers.

I slowly turn back to face him, my long black hair falls over the left side of my head, "What?" I ask in a quiet voice.

"Absolutely astonishing, you are." He whispers, causing me to blush once again wildly.

I feel eyes on my back and I'm tempted to have a quick glance back, but before I know it my lips make contact with another soft pair. I smile under the kiss and we pull away from one another after a few seconds.

I quickly turn my head away once more as my cheeks burn. I've never kissed anyone before. I gain a strange feeling in my stomach, nervousness.

After a few- What seems like hours- Of silence I finally speak up, "I better get some sleep." I say quickly, as I swing my legs back over the concrete railing and stand up.

"Alright, sleep well." I hear Jake say, staying seated on the balcony.

"You too." I reply, "Well, when you do actually go to sleep, because it doesn't seem like-" I begin to ramble.
