Rough Waters - Chapter 6

            “Good morning Las Vegas! And this is Mike and Minnie in the Morning!” the peppy, petite, blonde hostess, Minnie, bubbles with the biggest, fakest smile she could muster.

            The tall, buff brunette host, Mike, says, “We have a special guest, well, GUESTS. I guess, right, Min?”

            “Right, Mike!”

            What Makes You Beautiful starts to play in the background as the five boys emerge from backstage. Claps, cheers, and screams travel from the rowdy crowd to the boys who smile for fans to take their pictures. Niall sits on the end closest to the host with Liam glued to his side. Zayn is in the middle with Harry and Louis on his other side.

            “One Direction, everybody!” Mike and Minnie shout over the screaming audience. Eventually the crowd calms down enough for the interview to start.

            “So, boys,” Minnie starts, crossing her legs. “Who’s single, who’s not.” The boys smile prettily but inside, every one of them is thinking the same thing, how many times do we have to repeat this?

            It goes as normal, the only one still single being Harry. Then, the interview takes a sudden twist that Liam or any of the other boys didn’t expect. The picture of Liam and Eleanor flashes on the screen between the boys and the interviewers.

            Liam glances at the other boys. Niall has a look of shock plastered across his face, Zayn’s face is neutral but his eyes flutter from one person to the next, trying not to let them rest on one person for more than a couple of seconds. Harry joins Niall with the look of why the hell are they doing this? Louis is folding and unfolding his fists with clenched teeth. Anyone could tell he was angry and upset with the fact that this is all anyone is talking about.           

            “Liam,” Mike says seriously. “We would love to be the first to know…are you cheating on Danielle Peazer with Eleanor Calder, otherwise known as Louis Tomlinson’s girlfriend. Spill,” he adds with flourish.

            Liam puts his face in his hands. “No, Iahmnawcheeing,” he slurs incoherently.

            “Pardon?”

            Slamming his hands to the side, Liam stands up abruptly turning to face the camera head on. “NO,” Liam shouts, anger coating his voice like icing. “I AM NOT CHEATING! I’ve explained this to so many people, so many times in the last forty eight hours! Danielle Peazer is the love of my life. Eleanor Calder is my best mate’s girlfriend. I would NEVER inflict this much pain much pain on Danielle, Eleanor OR Louis! And the fact that everyone thinks I would DISGUSTS me! Eleanor Calder is my friend. We were NOT kissing nor have we EVER kissed. Eleanor was being a great friend. That’s all I can say! I. AM. NOT. NOR. EVER. HAVE. BEEN. A. CHEATER.” Liam sits down with flourish.

            This time Louis stands up, pointing at Liam with accusation. “Don’t believe him! He wouldn’t even tell the BAND what is going on. Liam Payne is cheating on his girlfriend with MY girlfriend!”

            “Louis, I am not cheating,” Liam murmurs quietly. “What happened to trust?”

            Louis glares at Liam. “You lost that trust when you began whoring around with my girlfriend.”

            Mike stands up in attempt to distinguish the fire he had started. “Boys, boys can we con –”

            “WE WENT TO A COFFE SHOP! HOW IN GODS NAME IS THAT ‘WHORING AROUND’?!” Liam puts air quotes around ‘whoring around’. “I can ASSURE you that I went to ask El a QUESTION. She LOVES you Louis, and if you don’t believe me, then believe her. Ask her yourself Louis.”
