Reverse "Hand Maiden's Tale"

World where predominantly females in population, form relationships in groups of multiple females.

Males are rare, only about 10-20% of births are male (most lost in utero, fetus not viable). Caused by a virus that most women have. They either have it or they don't at birth. Women who aren't carriers of the virus can't pass it to their children and have normal 50/50 ratios of male/female. All their children are highly valued, males because they're male, and females because they'll likely be a good mother since they don't carry the virus.

Women who do carry the virus have about a 60-70% chance of passing it to their offspring. Females become carriers, ales usually die, though occasionally they survive, often suffering neurological oddities (hyperactive senses, similar to Riskkin's over-sensitivity from his demon bond). Can also affect emotional perception, may be affected more or less strongly by specific emotions, prone to weeping or angry outbursts, or extreme joy, or lacks ability to feel certain emotions.

B/c of this, women who birth males are highly valued, known as "mothers," given royal treatment and given governmental funding to be part of the mother program where they live in government provided facilities and pampered in return for being constantly pregnant to try and breed more males.

Males are raised by government from birth, majority come from mothers in the program, but occasionally males are born to normal populace. Gov't requires males born outside the government mother's facility to be turned over for proper "education."

Main character: touch sense overactive, very susceptible to sexual stimulation. Very tactilely sensitive.
