Characters wake up and they are ghostly purple, white, grey and black wraiths in what appears to be a medical/futuristic science facility. They remember being human, but they aren't anymore. The humans they do see don't appear to be able to see them or know they exist. Can pass through walls. Probably high school aged.
One of them goes exploring to try and find answers. Turns out the humans can see them with the help of technology. One of the scientists wants to help them, but the others seem more interested in harming them.
