Thomas's POV
"Alpha, please? I promise you that you won't have to help with a thing. All of us will take care of the planning and set up."
I stare at the young girl, her eyes pleading with me to say yes to her request. The teenagers wanted to throw a pool party this weekend and needed my permission. We usually throw a party when there is new pack members coming, but never a pool party.
"I guess that will be fine. But under one condition."
"Oh my gosh Alpha, thank you so much and of course, what's the condition?"
"You have to find enough warriors to double the patrols. Rogues seem to know when there's a party going on and take that as a sign to attack. I don't have time for that. Got it?"
She nods her head frantically, bowing at me as she leaves. I lean my head back on my chair, sighing at another thing I was gonna have to do. Even though she said she was going to do everything, there's always something they need.
I was beyond exhausted this week and my wolf was no help. Every second of the day he reminded me of just how sad he was that Ella wasn't here with us. It had been a whole month since we left and it was starting to break us. We talked every day, but over the phone just wasn't enough. I missed her more then I've ever missed someone before. I could tell she missed me too, but I guess it wasn't enough to leave just yet.
I looked at my phone and saw a message from Ella. I smiled at just seeing her name on the screen. This girl had me wrapped around her tiny finger.
'Hi, how did you sleep?'
Her messages always brought a sweet smile to my face. They were all so innocent. I decided to call her instead of texting back. I wanted to see her face, it was the only thing that would get me through the day.
She picked up on the third ring, a sweet smile on her face.
"Hi, Thomas! What are you doing?"
"Hi baby, I'm just sitting in my office, I wanted to call before I got too busy today."
"What do you have planned to do?"
"There are some new members coming into the pack within the next couple days and I have to make sure that the houses for them are coming along okay. And then just boring Alpha stuff really. What are you doing today?"
"I start back to work today!"
"Oh I'm sorry baby, I totally forgot. Are you excited?"
"It's okay, and yes so much!"
"Are you feeling alright? Don't think I don't notice you wincing every time you move too much." I see her eyes widen a little and her fingers start to twiddle with each other.
"Oh I just slept wrong that's all Thomas. Nothing to worry about."
"Are you lying to me Ella?"
"N-no I promise, I got to go though I'll be late for my shift."
"Okay well have a great day baby."
"Thank you, you too! I'll call you on my break if that's okay?"
"Yes of course, talk to you soon my love."
"Talk to you soon!"
The phone only goes black for a second before it's lighting up again. Unfortunately it's not Ella calling me, instead it's one of the pack members who's in charge of the construction site.
