"One member of the cult works as a teacher his name is Richard Adler. But he also has another job. Have you heard of sex trafficking?" Kenny tells them pointing at a guy walking down the street.
"Yes," they all responded eyes not looking away from the guy.
"That's what he does. He takes kids from the school. That's how he traffics them. And of what Wendy said was correct he's also part of the cult. After his wife died he hasn't been the same he went a little crazy" Kenny explains eyes never shifting from the man.
The sun shined through the fog bright as always making the town look happy and innocent."What are we even gonna do when we get to him," Craig asks asks Kenny putting a hand up to block the sun from his eyes.
"We kill him before he can kill us"
——————"Can't we do this another way?" Craig asks picking at the blue frills on the dress.
"We didn't want to do it so it's up to you. Plus you lost the game of Rock Paper Scissors" Kenny tells him his voice sounding confident that this plan would work.
The idea was that Craig would go up to Richards door dressed as a girl saying he was a runaway and when he's in Adler's house he gets information about him and the cult.
"Come on just go up to his door" Tricia whines giving him a little shove.
"Fine"The cold wind blew through the bushes making them dance in the wind swaying back and forth almost as if telling Craig to go back. Craig's walked through all the slush on the streets and sidewalks. Adlers House was a Little Blue Color with a red roof. It looked nonthreatening- but then again looks can be deceiving just like how a little runaway girl can actually be a boy in a wig that is here to find out all your secrets.
"We will be waiting outside the house for you just incase things go wrong ok"
"Ok"Craig wrung the doorbell to the house. He fixed his wig to made it look more messy and believable that he was a runaway.
The door swung open revealing a man in a green sweater vest."Umm excuse me I'm Cathy I ran away from home and need a place to stay," Craig says to him trying to sound as helpless as possible.
Before he knew it he was being grabbed by the wrist pulled into his house then offered a glass of water. He sat down on the coach in the middle of the living room.
Craig didn't drink the water under the assumption that it was drugged."You have very nice hair" Adler said as he runs his fingers through Craig's wig.
"Umm thank you?" Craig's eyes were glued to the floor. He was to afraid to look Adler in the eyes.
Mr. Adler looked like your average teacher but there was a weird unsettling vibe around him. Like a smile with to many teeth.
"You stay here I have some.. errands to tend to," he says before leaving into the basement.
The first thing Craig does is was going to his bookshelf and start looking through the contents.
"He sure has a fascination with birds," he says to himself looking at the abundance of books on bird anatomy."That isn't useful, no, no, no, no... wait this is interesting" he states looking at a book with the words 'DIARY' ingrained into it. Craig looked over his shoulder to make sure no one was there then quickly shoved it in the pocket of his dress. He searched the
Craig immediately turned around when he felt breath on his neck.
He turned around to see Adler looking back at him."I've got coloring books right here if you want to do some art" Mr. Adler told him calmly showing no signs of knowing what Craig was doing.
Craig nodded frantically.Mr. Adler pointed down the hall
"You can have the room down the hall to the right" Craig walked to room he had pointed at and slammed the door shut.
Out of impulse, he took the knife from the pocket in his dress. He stabbed him in the throat then twisted the blade making sure the knife would leave permanent damage and not just a scar. Adler's blood dripped down his arm and onto the white frills on his dress.
"This is for Kyle! This is for Stan! This is for Token! And this one is for ClYDE!" Craig shouts stabbing him in his chest repeatedly tears pouring out uncontrollably.
The glass of the window shattered and Tricia climbed in with an angered look on her face.
"Look at what you've done now we can't get information from him!" She shouts angrily slapping him.
"I don't know what came over me. Let's just leave" Craig says standing up.
Craig heard the birds chirping from across the street and there and then he agreed with Adler. The birds were mocking him with their happiness."The birds look pretty"
They dragged the body to the hole they dug and agreed on one thing. They would forget about all of this and just have normal summers like regular non-murderer or wannabe detective kids.
