"Hey, Doug."

"Hey, C. How have you been? Gosh, I'm seeing you after so long. How's everything going with you?"

Doug was weirdly excited that day.

"I've been good, just work. So what would you like to have today? Your regular?"

Everytime Doug came, he always ordered a spiced latte and a chicken roll and some fries to go with that. He had ordered them so many times that now when he came in, his face looked like spiced latte and fries to me.

The guy that had come in with Doug, was good looking, almost pleasing to the eye. I could feel him looking at me.

He was tall, had blue eyes, and was well built. He seemed like a total gentleman, but kind of a douche. You know the kind that every girl likes. I could tell that a lot of girls would be after that.

"Yes, C. Just my regular. And hey, this is Chris, my close friend, he's just shifted to New York a couple weeks back."

Doug introduced us.

"And Chris, this is C. She's my friend and she works here and she is an amazing singer."

Doug had heard me singing to Sam, and that was a long time back. Sam always pushed me to sing for him.

I didn't really sing anymore. Earlier, I used to sing a lot, I was my absolute best when I sang, I could express myself but now my voice was just another regular, non special thing in me.

"It's nice to meet you, Chris. How's New York doin' you?" I just started making conversation with Chris, just so that things wouldn't get awkward.

"It's nice to meet you too, C. New York is a midnight lamp to me right now. You know, I'm just trying to figure it out. And this dumbass here, is leaving next month without even taking me around New York. So yeah, as of now, I'm a helpless bird here."

Chris was charming.

And his voice, damn, it was great. It was so soothing. His voice have me goosebumps.

And as Chris completed his 'I'm a helpless bird.' I could hear Sam calling out to me.

"I'm sure you'll figure it out, Chris. So what would you like to have?"

He was very sure about what he wanted even though he had never come to La Musique. And trust me when I say he never came down to the cafe, he never did.

"I'd like to have a double expresso with two shots of milk and yeah how about a blueberry muffin with it?"

I was impressed. I've always been intrigued by people who know what they want.

I know that this was just a small example of          'I'm intrigued by people who know what they want', but come on, can you blame me? The guy was attractive.

"Okay." I said.

I gave them their specific orders and then went back into the kitchen to help Laura out.

Laura was a new intern that Sam had appointed. She was really stupid, didn't even know how to work the oven, but she was sweet.

I went out. I needed some air. Sam has always been very caring towards me, so I told him before I went, or else he would've been all worried.

I was having a smoke, when Doug and Chris came out. They waved goodbye, but Chris said something.

"Until next time."

He sounded so sure that he'd see me here the next time he came.

I went inside and helped Sam. We closed the Café at around 9, that day because Sam had a date and I needed sleep.

On our way, Sam and I grabbed some Chinese .
I reached home and I couldn't stop thinking about Chris, I mean, he was so charming.

I facetimed my sister, Avery, to tell her how my day went.

It was now almost like a ritual, that before we went to bed, we would facetime each other and spill what had happened.

After getting off of the call, I threw myself on my bed and grabbed a pillow and slept.

And then as I was falling asleep, my phone lit up. It was a text message.

I was too lazy to get up, so I left it there and slept.
