Lisa's P.O.V.
Chae and I sat at the kitchen table with her parents, who both were waiting for us to talk.
"So...what was it that you wanted to talk about?" Her mother asked and we both looked to each other. I knew she didn't want to be the one to tell them because she felt uncomfortable saying something like that but I didn't even want the words to come out of my own mouth. I hated saying I was sick, I hated actually admitting it to not only other people but to myself.
"Well I can tell you one part, but Lisa has to tell you the other part" Chae answered and both her parents nodded. "What's wrong girls?" Her father asked and I looked up to Chae, signaling for her to go first. "Well...Lisa came out to her mom...or she found out or something, and she got kicked out, I was there, she had all of Lisa's stuff packed into boxes and just yelled at her to leave because she doesn't wan't her, and Lisa really needs a place to live now..." Chae told them and they looked just as surprised as Chae did earlier.
"Lisa, you know you are always welcome in our home no matter what, but could we call her? maybe we can talk some sense into her?" Her mother said and I shook my head. "No...i tried, she doesn't want anything to do with me, she's ashamed of me" I answered and I could even hear the pain in my own voice. "Well alright then, I'm very sorry Lisa, but you know you are always welcome here, you can stay here as long as you need, you're like a daughter to us" Her father told me and I could see the sincerity on their faces. "Thank you so much...really, I appreciate it so much" I thanked them and they smiled sincerely.
"What else did you want to tell us?" Her mother asked. I took a deep breath and I felt Chae grab my hand, attempting to give me confidence. "I um...I haven't been around much because I'm sick, I got diagnosed with a disease a while ago, it's not contagious, it's just...the doctors...they gave me three years to live, and I've already gone through one" I informed them and paused waiting for them to take in the information. "Oh my god Lisa...is there anything that can be done?" They asked and I shrugged. "There's a few options but they are just...too risky" I answered. "I go to regular check ups and they give me medication to help for the pain...and sometimes I get these really bad chest pains and It can get bad, but lately it hasn't happened as much, which means its only getting worse" I continued. I noticed the shocked expression on their faces, but I could tell that they were hurt by my words, along with Chae.
This is why I never wanted to tell anyone. I never wanted anyone to be hurt because of what was inevitably going to happen to me.
"Im sorry, I didn't want to burden you with any of this, I just-" I tried but Chae's mother placed her hand on my shoulder. "Im glad you told us" She said smiling slightly. "I can understand how hard this must be for you, so If you need help, any at all, just let us know okay? even if you need a ride to your appointments" She told me and I smiled. "Thank you, It means a lot, I can probably get to the appointments myself with my car, but If i need anything, I will let you both know" I said and they pulled me into a hug.
"I assume that you brought your things? Do you need help bringing them in?" Her father asked and I nodded. "That would be great thank you" I said and we all walked out of the house and to my car. "Chaeyoung, will she be sleeping in your room?" Her father asked her and she nodded. I opened my trunk and saw the four small boxes in the back. I didn't have a lot of things, mainly just a few clothes, and some pictures and my guitar. I never really needed anything else, nothing else was that important to me other than those few things.
Once everything was put into Chae's room I sat down on her bed and took everything in. The last thing I had expected was that I'd move in with her, especially after everything I had done to her. However, I was thankful that she was so easy to give me another chance.
