"You ready yet? The party isn't gonna wait for us."

Brendon was running a comb through his hair as he leaned against the door frame.

Tyler rolled his eyes and debated not even gracing Brendon with a response. He was still relatively pissed about the situation he was pretty much forced into.

"You do realize the only reason I'm going is to protect you from your own stupidity, right?"

"Come on Ty, it'll be fun. Once we get a few drinks in your system and you get a hit or two off of-"

Tyler crossed his arms and leaned farther back in the chair he was seated in, shooting a sharp glare at his roommate as he interjected.

"I've made it perfectly clear that I am not okay with doing either of those things."

"But you're like, what, 21 now? Live a little man. You can't be so uptight forever."

"Drop it, Brendon. The only reason I'm even going at all is to keep an eye out for you and make sure you make it home safe. If I didn't have to worry about you making such idiotic decisions I wouldn't even be going."

Brendon's smile grew to the point where it practically split his face in half. He reached over to pull Tyler into a hug, and it, unsurprisingly so, went unreciprocated.

It was obvious by the smell of alcohol already tainting the other man's breath that they had a long night ahead of themselves.

Tyler already regretted agreeing to go.

Josh was in his element: blinding lights, clouds of smoke hanging in the air, and a swarm of bodies large enough to swallow him whole.

He sipped whiskey from the glass the woman behind the bar had offered him as his eyes danced across the crowd in search of anyone who he found worth a second glance. He wasn't planning on going home alone tonight.

His interest remained unpeaked until his gaze fell on a familiar, slender boy.

After Josh downed the rest of his drink, he set his empty cup down on the counter, nodding at the bartender before sauntering his way towards the dingy couch currently hosting Tyler.

"Hey barista boy", Josh greeted calmly. He couldn't help but allow his eyes to roam for a split second, noting how weird it felt not seeing Tyler in uniform.

The collection of people that surrounded Tyler all looked up to see who it was that had approached them, but their interest faded quickly; it was obvious that their window of concern was narrowed to the joint being passed around amongst them.

Tyler looked unimpressed as he momentarily flicked his gaze up from his phone screen. The only clue he gave that he'd even heard him was his legs crossing over one another as he shrank further down into his posture and continued typing out a message on his phone.

This was the universal response for not wanting to give a response. Not that Josh cared.

Josh waved his hand in front of his face before plopping down beside him, leaving little room for personal space.

"Hey, I'm talking to you."

Tyler let out a frustrated sigh before clicking his phone screen off and letting it fall aggressively into his lap.

"Hey, I'm ignoring you." He slapped both hands onto his thighs and fixed Josh with a deadpan expression.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny. But seriously you kinda owe me for all that shit you pulled, so talking to me is the least you could do."

Tyler furrowed his brows and did his best to set Josh ablaze with the look he sent his way.

"I don't owe you anything, you're a jerk."

"That's what you think."

"No, that's what I know" the smaller boy's lips twitched up into a smirk.

Josh's eyebrows raised with intrigue as he studied the boy sitting beside him. Everything about this interaction was amusing to him.

He leaned in closer allowing his hot breath to fan across the other's face as he spoke.

"Is that so?"

Tyler's breath hitched and he leaned in so that their worlds shrunk to just two sets of brown eyes.

Just when Josh figured he finally had Tyler right where he wanted him, his expression morphed into a shit-eating grin; he coughed directly in his face. It was exaggerated and obviously fake.

"You have bad breath."

Josh groaned when Tyler pulled away and the distance between them grew once more.

"You're a fucking tease."

"And you have a girlfriend."

Tyler's accusatory tone and the attitude that leaked through his words irked Josh. He could care less about Debby; at this moment the only thing he wanted to do was set Tyler straight. The lie came easily.

"Not anymore. We broke up last week."

Tyler wasn't sure if he completely believed Josh, but he couldn't deny the fact that he undoubtedly felt attracted to him. He hadn't felt such a strong desire for anyone in awhile.

"Okay."

That's all it took for Josh to crash their lips together it was a passionate kiss completely driven by lust. Teeth knocked together as Tyler finally got over his initial shock and kissed back, a moan escaping his parted lips.

It was only when Josh's hands started to roam and he whispered something about going to his place that Tyler broke the steamy exchange.

His inky black pupils swallowed both of his bronze irises and his shakey hands remained locked behind Josh's neck as he spoke.

"As much as I'd love to continue w-with this, I can't. Not right now, I mean! We could definitely pick up where we left off another time it's just"- Tyler let go of Josh in favor of nervously twirling the hair at the nape of his neck. He stole a quick glance at his roommate who had since abandoned the coach in favor of shuffling drunkenly across the dancefloor before looking back up at Josh- "my roommate is a complete idiot, and I promised to be his dd tonight."

Josh's Adam's apple bobbed as he followed Tyler's gaze to the group of people who had been sitting on the couch across from them moments ago. They were well beyond high out of their minds at this point and just as wasted.

Josh bit his lip before surprising himself with the considerate words that tumbled out of his mouth; "Oh, um it's alright, another time, yeah."

He normally didn't do consideration, if he knew what he wanted he would do everything within his power to obtain it.

Silence enveloped the pair for a brief moment as they stared at each other with hooded eyes. There was an unspoken intensity that lingered.

Tyler broke the intense gaze and caught his bottom lip between his teeth before grabbing his phone and gesturing towards Josh with it.

"So we can, um, y'know... meet up again?"

Josh nodded in understanding before removing his phone from his pocket and handing it to Tyler so he could do the same.

Once both of their phones were hidden away in their pockets Tyler experienced another bought of surprise when a chaste kiss was planted on his mouth and he was being pulled against the other man's firm chest.

Josh's sultry breath tickled the crest of Tyler's ear as he whispered to him, his hands sliding further down his waist until he was able to firmly grasp what it was that he wanted.

"This better be worth the wait."
