"Of the many fearsome beasts and monsters that roam our land, there is none more curious or more deadly than the Basilisk, known also as the King of Serpents. This snake, which may reach gigantic size, and live many hundreds of years, is born from a chicken's egg, hatched beneath a toad. Its methods of killing are most wondrous, for aside from its deadly and venomous fangs, the Basilisk has a murderous stare, and all who are fixed with the beam of its eye shall suffer instant death. Spiders flee before the Basilisk, for it is their mortal enemy, and the Basilisk flees only from the crowing of the rooster, which is fatal to it."
I looked around to make sure no one was looking. Once the coast was clear, I ripped the page off and pocketed it. I sauntered down the stairs to Potter and his pathetic friends.
"Bet you loved that, didn't you Potter? Famous Harry Potter. Can't even go to a bookshop without making the front page!" I spat, looking at them one by one. Pathetic little gits, if you ask me.
"Leave him alone," A shorter girl revealed herself. Red hair? Another one?
"Oh look Potter, you got yourself a girlfriend!" I smirked at them. Suddenly I felt a cane on my right shoulder, I rolled my eyes and stepped aside. Not even bothering to listen to what my father said. I zoned out a few seconds later. This is a waste of time.
A voice brought me back to reality. It was Granger, she had gotten taller. And physically prettier. Not that she wasn't pretty last year. My feelings for her resurfaced as I saw her say something to my father, something about fearing things.
I only told my mother how I felt, although not knowing what it was at the time. It was explained to me and I kind of liked it, until my father heard about it.
He made his exit, and I took that as a cue to make mine. But not before handing the page over to Hermione and getting close to her ear.
"You're smart enough to figure that out, or else I came in second for nothing." I whispered, my voice low. I pulled back and looked straight at her wide eyes.
I walked over to Potter and Weasel, "See you at school,"
