Samantha Brooks had been oddly quiet since first period. To those annoyed by her presence, it seemed like a miracle.
The princess of Hawkins High had finally shut up and the world wasn't revolving around her. What a relief.
To those close to her, however, it was worrisome. Samantha rarely (if ever) kept quiet and didn't speak her thoughts, even if mildly dangerous thoughts.
She didn't even do anything when someone purposely brushed against her, cursing her out when she hadn't done anything wrong.
So here they all sat, eyes trained on her like their prey. She was ticking bomb. An explosion was bound to occur, in what shape? Who knew. Yet a bomb is anything but beautiful.
Tina was at the edge of her seat, her teeth nibbling on her lip as she looked over at Samantha.
Billy Hargrove watched her intently, angry at Harrington for clearly upsetting her.
Carol popped bubblegum bubbles with a smirk on her face, the rumors of Samantha's earlier confrontation, intrigued her.
Tommy H was over the moon to have some action around here, it had been a minute since anything interesting had happened.
The guys on the basketball were glad the news had finally gotten out. Especially since they were the first to hear it.
On lookers also enjoyed her stillness, it brought them an eerie yet thrilling pit in their stomachs. Watching gossip unfold was the most entertaining thing in Hawkins and they were all for it.
One thing was clear and everyone had heard about it somewhere, somehow.
Steve Harrington had boned Samantha Brooks, as in, Billy Hargrove's girlfriend.
The details? Unknown. When, where, and why, were the pieces others had to put together to solve the puzzle.
She could feel them. Each and every stare burning on her back. She gripped her pencil tighter, her teeth clenching harder.
Of course it was bound to get out. Sam however, didn't expect everyone to suddenly care for drama.
Her nerves are to the moon as her foot bounces under her. Although attempting to pay at least some attention to the lesson, it seems impossible with all the stares boring into her.
So with a heavy sigh, Sam turns to look at Billy, who sat a few seats from her. All their eyes follow her movement.
Billy meets her eyes, waiting for her to say or do something. As predicted, she suddenly stands, quickly grabbing her bag from the chair and nodding at Billy to follow.
Carols eyes go wide, an amused smile playing on her lips. Tina watches this unfold, hoping Sam doesn't get herself landed in the office.
Sam grabs ahold of Billy's sleeves and pulls him to follow her lead. Billy stays silent, following her quietly.
*****
It was hypocritical really. Earlier she had reminded him they were unhealthy, yet here she sat, a cigarette between her fingers.
Billy Hargrove sat beside her, puffing smoke every few seconds. Likewise, Sam held the tobacco filled paper to her lips, attempting to keep her feelings at bay. For her own sake of course.
"Why the hell does everyone suddenly care?" She mumbles, more to herself.
Billy raises a brow, she hadn't spoken a word since they had exited the classroom. She had simply taken his Marlboro pack and lit a cigarette for herself.
