Jeongyeon's POV
I was helping my dad at the restaurant when I saw my bratty cousin. I glared at him. I was still not over the fact that he wanted to bribe a doctor to be able to not go on the camping trip, plus I heard about how he was sent away from camp for fighting. I scoffed.
He quickly spotted me and attempted to flee, but I stopped him. Even though, I was still really mad at him. I thought nothing good could come out of constantly holding a grudge against him. I decided to make peace with him. I was going to leave the country soon anyway and perhaps Mina was right, perhaps I should try to understand him.
His face showed longing as we recalled our childhood. His eyes still lit up every time a bowl jjajangmyeon was served for him. He was actually a cute boy. He's just full of anger and bitterness. I wonder if it was possible for him to turn into that happy, little boy again.
It seemed like it's impossible. For, I too, had changed a lot. Just one question had been nagging my mind. Did he like Mina? Mina seemed to have a liking toward him and he was always so soft with her. Frankly speaking, Mina deserved a better guy.
It was getting late and I escorted him out of the restaurant. Unexpectedly, Mina approached us. Oh yeah, she usually took tutoring session. Mina was grinning widely as she approached us.
"Good to see you cousins patching things up." She sneered.
Kyungwan's face turned instantly red. I just gave her a small smile.
"Mina, you're taking the bus home?" I asked.
"Yeah, as usual." She replied.
"Kyungwan here is with his driver, he can take you home. Taking a bus so late at night like this is not safe." I nagged.
"Y-yeah, Jeongyeon's right." Kyungwan stammered, still blushing furiously.
Suspicious. We bid our farewells. I watched Mina and Kyungwan safely entering Kyungwan's car before going back in.
Kyungwan's POV
I can't believe how we were just talking about her and she appeared. Lord, was I not ready for this. Though, it really made me concerned how she was taking the bus at this time. Yeah, South Korea is pretty safe, but you just could never know. This made me more determined on getting a driver's license.
"So, what did you cousins talk about?"
Flashback
"Do you like her?" Jeongyeon asked.
What should I say to this. I decided to change the subject.
"S-shouldn't we talk about us? Why did you suddenly want to talk to me? Don't you hate me?" I asked her.
I secretly feel really sad about this, Jeongyeon hated me now, although I was pretty happy when she said she forgave me.
"I do hate you" she nonchalantly replied. "But I'm leaving the country soon, I'm going to the United States to study, I won't be back in a long time, I thought I should be at peace with everyone before I leave the country, including being at peace with you."
"You can act tough in front of everyone, but I know you better, Kyungwan, you're honestly just a good boy with a smart brain, who's a cry baby." Jeongyeon teased.
"What do you mean I'm a cry baby?" I asked her, embarrassed, my face flushed.
"You want me to remind you? You cried whenever you visited your late mother, when your father didn't come, you cried, whenever your father didn't appear for parental meeting, you cried in the toilet, and lastly you cried for hours after accidentally pushing me. Many more.."Jeongyeon recalled.
Wait, how did she know the crying in the toilet part?
I spoke my mind, "How do you know I cried in the toilet?"
She smirked at me, "I have my resources."
We talked a lot that day, we talked about the happy memories, embarrassing ones, too. Damn, this ostrich, how come she remembered all of this. She's making me embarrassed. I was laughing, blushing uncontrollably, smiling. It's been a long time since I was like this. I'm just glad I have this opportunity with Jeongyeon.
"You haven't answered my question though." She reminded.
I blushed. I tried changing the subject again.
"I won't fall for that now, answer me, Do you like Mina?" Jeongyeon asked me again.
Damn this ostrich, what should I say?
"If you like her, treat her right, she's not just a friend to me, but a little sister I treasure a lot." Jeongyeon said to me as if giving me her blessing.
I looked at the clock, it's 9 o'clock. Saved by the bell.
"It's nine o'clock! I need to go home." I chirped.
I celebrated in my mind and followed after her.
"Well, I and Jeongyeon talked things out, she's going to study in the United States and wishes to be at peace with everyone before she leaves." I explained.
"It's Jeongyeon's dream, I'm happy for her" Mina retorted, showing me her gummy smile.
'She's so ethereal...' I thought.
Soon we reached her house. She thanked me and turned around but turned to me again. I raised my eyebrow.
"Did you forget something?" I asked.
"Uhm, did you guys really only talk about that? Did you guys, perhaps, talk about.... something else?" She asked.
I gulped. What shoud I say to this?
