"Kyle?" Athena smiled as she walked into their apartment, smelling the warm apple and cinnamon in the air.

"Hello, beautiful. How was work?" Kyle smiled, taking her blazer and briefcase and putting them on their respective hooks by the door.

He could be so sweet and understanding, sometimes. Especially when his days at work were positive.

"Good, actually. The students are doing historical debates and they've all been extra engaged because of it. I love it when my ideas are successful," Athena beamed, twisting in Kyle's arms to give him a gentle kiss.

"Hmm... My baby is such a good teacher. I'm glad that I can provide for us so that you can do what you want," Kyle smiled and squeezed Athena's ass. "I made some spiked apple cider if you want to make something warm for dinner to go with it."

Well, that was a nice moment while it lasted. Athena thought to herself as she silently peeled herself out of Kyle's arms and got started on some soup for dinner.

He could be so sweet, but also such a misogynistic tool all wrapped in one, and Athena hated it.

Two sharp buzzes disrupted her thoughts and a small smile graced her lips as she saw Christian's name come up on her phone.

I'm glad your kids liked the debate! You said Greek history is your next unit? What if you rolled in your love for Greek Mythology with the actual historical stuff and have half the class debate as greek gods and goddesses and the other half as actual emperors?

Athena loved that Christian was always supportive and willing to suggest things... And that was a brilliant suggestion, too.

I like that. We still on for the batting cages tomorrow?

Duh. You need to show me your mad skillz, home skillet.

Athena let out a small snort and almost cut her finger as she read the text, a smile now almost permanently on her face.

That was really bad. It isn't 2003 anymore, and I hope we never go back there CY.

It felt nice to have a friend who only knew her. Someone who could make her smile and never bring up Kyle.

She needed a good friend.

Christian smiled warmly as he shoved another forkful of Chipotle in his mouth, looking out his large portrait window.

The knowledge that Athena was drop-dead gorgeous was obvious, but it became a second thought recently.

More importantly, Athena was brilliant and hilarious.

Christian was thrilled to have a friend like her, because he genuinely felt like he was becoming smarter as a result. Athena was making him a better person.

As he finished his dinner and brushed his teeth his phone buzzed and he grinned, thinking it was Athena again.

I'm in Milwaukee. I need you to clean my cobwebs with your womb broom.

It was one of his regular fucks.

Sex was always nice.

"I don't know why I can't hit anymore," Athena pouted, her lightly glossed bottom lip jutting out.

"You need to focus on the ball, Thenes," Christian laughed, seeing how her eyes were never focused on the ball.

He didn't need to know that she was focusing on the trail of sweat forming on his shirt from the nape of his neck to his lower back.

"I am!" Athena pouted further, swinging and making weak contact.  "It's just not getting anywhere!"

"Let me show you," Christian smiled and took the bat, absolutely smoking the ball.

"That isn't fair. You get paid millions to do that," Athena sighed, leaning over the machine, not noticing how much cleavage spilled out.

Christian tried to avert his eyes, swallowing thickly.

"C'mere. I'll help," Christian smiled softly, helping Athena into the left-handed batters box.

"Am I not allowed to bat righty?" She laughed, taking the bat and standing next to him and ready to listen to his every word.

"This wouldn't work if you were," Christian smiled, giving her a quick wink before laying his hands delicately on her hips and gently adjusting her stance. "Your hips were closed off. So even if you did have power in your swing, there would be too much hook for it to go anywhere. You want your hips to pop as you swing."

Athena had to school her breath as he gently swiveled her hips, his strong thumbs resting in the small of her back.

"Don't think about swinging forward. Think with your back half," he smiled gently pushing her back leg out and distributing her weight back. "Load your weight back and swing parallel. The longer your bat is parallel to the ground, the more success you'll have," he said quietly, his chest now flush against her back and his breath on the back of her neck causing goosebumps to run down her spine.

Athena nodded once, her breaths coming heavy. "And how will that help?"

"It'll let you get the barrel on the ball for longer," Christian smiled and moved her arms so they were more beneficial. "Let's give it a try."

Athena nodded again and focused intently on the ball in order to ignore the growing wetness between her legs. As her focus grew, she swung, hearing the bat crack and feeling the vibrations move through her hands.

"Holy shit, Thenes," Christian grinned, his eyes wide. "That was 101 off the bat. I'm proud."

"You're a good teacher," she smiled, relieved that he backed up, even if his hands were still on her hips.

"That's a lot coming from you. I'm glad I could help, but that was mostly you. A natural firecracker."

"What can I say - feisty all around," Athena smiled and winked, putting the bat away.

"That you are. Part of your charm," Christian grinned and packed everything up, making sure that his duffle bag was covering where his shorts were getting uncomfortably tight.

No more lessons. It'd kill him.
