[Israel]

-"You don't give a fuck about anyone but yourself. All you want to do is better yourself and help yourself out. You're selfish and cold hearted and you'll get what's comin' to you, mark my words little mama."

"You won't even help me get a job?" Isaiah questions me, I shake my head as I wipe down the windows.

He followed me all the way to work that day. Jesus, I moved to Greenpoint to avoid being harassed.

"Why—!" He outbursts and I shush him, giving him a side eye. "Won't even help your own brother get back on his feet. You really have changed."

I growl as I inhale looking at him. "Look," I whisper yell at him making sure no one overhears. "I am not obligated to help you with shit, alright? I didn't fuck my life over, you did!"

He stands up straight looking at me. "It's like that?" I nod my head. "Yes, it's exactly like that." I mock his tone in a deeper voice.

"I moved away from you guys to better my life, we were all given the same opportunities and I took mine. You see what you did with yours."

He nods his head, grabbing the Windex out of my hand. "You know what," He starts off poking me in my chest.

"The fact that you won't even help your own brother get a job shows the person who you really are." I glare at him as he presses on.

"You don't give a fuck about anyone but yourself. All you want to do is better yourself and help yourself out. You're selfish and cold hearted and you'll get what's comin' to you, mark my words little mama."

I shake my head as he nods his head looking me deep into my eyes. "Guess I'm just like my mother."

I watch as he clenches his jaw, "Stop talking about my mother."

I step outside, "Oh, your mother? Just the other day it was ma must be so proud of me—! This that fake shit I've got to watch out for! You people aren't using me anymore!"

"You people?! We're your family Israel Nashae!" I shake my head waving my hand in the air. "Nah, y'all are dead to me." He steps in front of me once I turn my back on him.

"Whether you like it or not, we're family and we're supposed to stick together."

"Stick together?" I question "Stick together," I repeat as he nods his head. "Stick together, like I said."

"Where were y'all when—" He covers my mouth pushing me up against a wall.

"Don't bring that up," He warns as I nod. "See, ain't shit changed. No one was ever there for me, but when any of y'all need a favor I'm supposed to just break my neck right? Fuck outta here. Go fuck yourself, you and the rest of your family."

Suddenly he grabs me by my neck shoving me into a brick wall.

"Watch your mouth,"

"Or what?" I smirk. "I'm not 11 anymore, do something." I test as he let's go.

Suddenly he's being pushed, and there stands an angry Alex in front of me.

"The fuck?!" Isaiah outbursts, she looks over at me. "You okay?" She looks at me and I nod.

"Who the fuck are you?" Isaiah walks up on her, she doesn't seem the slightest bit intimidated.

"Alex Rosales, you are?" Suddenly, Isaiah swells down glancing from me to her.

He smiles widely as he nods his head. "Oh.." he sings out as he begins to chuckle lightly.

"I see, you two.." he points between Alex and I "You still on that gay shit Israel? God, nothings changed."

"Y'all two fuckin'?" Isaiah questions, "No—!" I shout and he smacks his lips.

"Israel, how you know her?"

"Through Aaliyah," "-She still around huh? Well, let me go. I wouldn't want to end up missing or nothin'." He walks in the opposite direction.

I look at Alex who's examine my body. "You okay?" I nod and she shakes her head. "Who was that?"

"My brother, where'd you come from?" She shakes her head. "You two are related?" I nod.

Did she just ignore my question?

"I was comin' from a friends, and saw him man handling you. I didn't really like the sight of that." She nervously scratches her neck.

"Ah him? He's nothing to worry about, believe me."

Why'd Isaiah suddenly ease off when she said her name?

"Right, what time you off?" "-6:30, why?" She shoves her hands in her pockets. "Wanted to see if you wanted to grab something to eat."

What the hell does he mean "go missing"?

I decline with a shake of my head. "Nah, I should probably go home. Don't want anymore unwanted run ins happening." She nods.

"I understand," She looks at her feet. "Well, let me walk you at least. Keep you safe."

"Actually, I drove to work today." It becomes awkward as we hold a brief moment of silence.

"I should probably go clock out now." She nods her head as she begins to walk away.

Strange..

I think to myself before walking back in to clock out.

On the drive back home I couldn't help but think about the incident that happened.

How the hell did Isaiah find me in the first place?

Why did Alex become so over protective?

Why was she acting weird when I declined food?

Why is she extra friendly all of a sudden?

I exhale slowly as I reach my apartment building.

I'm praying my life doesn't become a complete wreck again, I've worked too hard to get to where I am.
