He woke up two hours later and immediately scanned for you. His eyes landed on your sleeping figure at the sofa adjacent to him. There was a blanket that draped over him, he smiled, you had given it to him a few years ago. He tried his best to carefully laid the blanket on you, but his foot was caught on the table and he fell forward. His hands landed on the arms of the sofa You let out a small gasp when you opened your eyes to see that his face was inches from yours. You held his gaze for a few seconds, enough time to recognize that he was back to his 26-year-old self. Enough for you to realize that he was still as handsome as ever, enough to make your heart go crazy as it did in high school and college when you two would spend all days together.

He cleared his throat and pushed himself off. "Sorry about that." he said, not looking at your face.

"It's okay. I'm glad you're all better now."

"How old was I?" he asked, sounding concerned.

"9." you answered. You saw the worriedness on his face and his disappointment grew much larger.

"How did you managed to get me to drink it anyway? 9-year-old me hated medicine." he asked, trying to make himself feel better with a joke.

"Well, I know his weakness." you winked. "And apparently 26-year-old you hate it as well because you didn't call beforehand to ask for a refill." You stood up and moved to one of his cabinets. "This should last you three months. But at this point, maybe a month and a half. Make sure to tell Taehyung to call ahead, okay? Or I guess I could call, I should do that next time." You rambled on but he wasn't paying particular attention to anything you were saying.

"What's my weakness?" he asked.

"What?" you asked, looking up at him. He leaned back on his desk, which made him look both hot and intimidating at the same time. But none of that fazed you.

"My 9-year-old self's weakness." he said.

"You forget that you had a crush on me when you were 9. I just used that to my advantage." you shrugged.

"What did you do?" he asked.

"Wow, you make me sound like a predator." you said offendedly, he rolled his eyes. "He asked for a kiss on the cheek, that's all."

"So you kissed me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in a cocky manner.

"Correction, I kissed him. Sorry if that ruined your single-life mission and sorry I'm not one of the hot models that you're into. But I did save your life, I think I deserve a break."

He pushed himself off the table and walked closer to you. Eventually, his arms trapped you between him and the cabinet. "Why did you kiss me?"

"Because that was the only way to get you to take your medicine." you answered with a straight face. Namjoon always believed that he could use his posture and look to get people to do what he wants and for the most part, it works, unless it's with you.

"So you didn't feel anything?" he asked with a smirk. You pushed him off gently.

"No. I don't allow myself to feel anything when I'm around you."

"Why?" he asked, tilting his head all innocently.

"You know why, Kim Namjoon, don't act all pure." you laughed. "You date supermodels or actresses. I'm just your best friend, man. You made that clear and honestly, I should be more offended than I am but I'm too busy to date anyways." you shrugged. "Oh, I should get going." you said, looking at your watch.

"Where are you going? I'll take you." Namjoon said suddenly.

You shook your head. "I'm just gonna go back to the clinic, Jungkook must have his hands full right now and I should get back to help. Stay and get back to work, Mr. Kim."

"Y/N, you're okay, right?"

"Why wouldn't I be? Do you think something like this could make me sad? Buddy, we've been through worst. I'm gonna go now." you said, closing the door behind you and not letting him have the last word. Namjoon stared at the door, but not for long. He thought about that day you confessed to him in college and before you could finish the confession, he had turned you down with the most superficial response, you're my best friend, he had told you. He went back to his desk and began to work.

Outside, Taehyung greeted you again."Dr. Jeon, once again, I'm so sorry. It won't happen again next time." he said, bowing down vigorously.

"It's okay. Take care of him and yourself, okay?"

"Yes. And also, can you say hi to Jungkook for me?" he asked shyly. You chuckled and nodded, young love, how nice. In the elevator and on the walk to your car, you reminded yourself that you were okay and that everything was fine. Being around him is normal and he shouldn't have an effect on you. That stays true for the most part, but when you're alone, you can't help but wonder what would have happened if he hadn't rejected you. Or what would have happened if you had stopped talking to him completely. Would your life be better? Most likely. But his life wouldn't have been, so you stayed and you will continue to stay there, in the background. Though you were smiling soon after the rejection, you had to watch as he went out with the prettiest girls. The ones with money, fame, a hot body, sometimes a sense of humor. That was his type, and you didn't belong in that category.

Jungkook tried his best to stay mad at you once he came back but became extremely clingy when you promised to take him to eat chicken for dinner. The clinic was busy for the rest of the day and both of you were exhausted. Your parents were out of town so Jungkook was staying with you for the month. He claimed that he was a grown man but still can't go a day without drinking his banana milk.

"How was Namjoon hyung?" he asked. Since he was younger, Jungkook looked up to Namjoon for guidance with boy things that you could never help with. Namjoon loved him like he was his own little brother. In fact, Jungkook first came out to Namjoon. It was touching to hear how Namjoon comforted him and accepted him with the same love and enthusiasm.

"He's fine. Still alive and breathing. I gave him some more so this won't happen again, hopefully." you answered.

"How about you?" he asked.

"I'm hungry. I can't wait for the chicken to come out." you said, mouth already watery. The aroma of the restaurant was making your stomach growl, begging for some food.

"No. Noona, I mean how are you?" he asked again. You sighed, you wanted to avoid the subject. Of course he knew how you would be. Every time you went and see Namjoon, it was like a part of you remained with him. If you added up the parts, it could be a new you.

"I'm fine, Kookie. I'll be fine, soon." you told him, it was a promised to the both of you.
