Icarus Shadows is a normal teen girl that loves playing duel monsters. But one day gets to explore the world in Domino City. But for what reason was she brought into the world, and how will she go back home.
What adventures wait for this young dueli...
It's an amazing summer morning, the sun peeking into the room from behind the curtain. Birds chirping outside. Slowly, our current protagonist was opening their eyes. They stared at the ceiling with their eyes tracing the odd patterns up on the ceiling for a few moments, trying to wake up. Blinking a few times to she realize it's Saturday, and the newest episode of Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains is about to air. Getting out of bed, she quickly grabs hold of her deck and runs to the living room. Yes, grabbing her deck seems somewhat cheesy, but it was second nature to her. Much like the author of this awesome fanfiction, nothing wrong with carrying a deck on you at all times.....
Holding her dark magician deck in her right hand and her left hand gripping her Yuma style key, which is basically Yuma's golden emperor key but silver and with a small blue gem on top. The key is very important to me for the same reason Yuma cares for his key. Icaurs saved a lot of money when she was younger when yugioh zexal came out, and she just had to have the key. It fits her well, and she never took it off unless she's sleeping or bathing.
Walking into the living room, Icarus sat down and eagerly turned the TV on. She still had 30 minutes until the new episode came on, so the show before just so happens to be the original Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel monsters. She's has been a big fan of this series for the longest time, ever since she was a little girl. The intro of the original Yu-Gi-Oh opening played, and it brought so much nostalgia. Closing her eyes to the egyptian sounding into she closed her eyes. The song brought her to when when she was in elementary school and sitting on the floor every Saturday morning. She placed her deck beside her and was enjoying listening to the music. Her emotions of love and admiration for the game and the show overflowed her. Unaware to Icarus, her silver emperor key gave off a soft glow, and with that, she passed out. . . .
Waking up Icarus was sitting against a random wall in an ally with her arms around a black backpack. Rubbing her brown eyes, she looked around. Everything looked different, where exactly was she, and why is it so noisy?! Covering her ears, Icarus looked off to the right only to see a busy street....a street?
"Huh?" She says out loud and stares at the people walking by. No one seemed to notice her, which she didn't really mind too much since she was in a dark ally. But the people looked...off...way off. Yeah, they were people, but at the same time, they were not quite right. Animated was more like it.
Looking back down to her lap, she registered the backpack that was there, and she opened it carefully. Was that her deck? A few binders, textbooks, pens, two water bottles, three granola bars, her cellphone, and a metal box. Pulling it out, she sees a whole bunch of other duel cards. Upon further analysis, she realized that it was some other spellcasters, spell, and trap cards that aren't in her deck. The monster looks...old-like. Early game Yugioh old. Alot of old common and rares.
Putting it back, she zippered up her backpack and stood up. On reflex, her left hand went up to her chest to grip the silver key. Looking down at it, she saw that it was animated, along with her hands. That's not right.
Looking down at herself, she had on what she can only assume is a school uniform, which to her surprise was the same as which the girls in the first Yu-Gi-Oh wear. Pink blazer, white undershirt, blue skirt, long pink socks that stop just below her knees, and brown shoes. When did her clothes change? Where's her pajamas!
Finding a broken mirror on the ground, she saw her face, Icarus had mid-length hair that was ash brown on top and honey brown at the bottom. She also had dark brown eyes. Guess her appearance didn't change too much. She still looked like herself. Sorta. . .

. .
Walking out onto the street, she sees other teen girls with their uniform on walking towards what she can only assume is school.
That's right, it was 6:00 AM. when she woke up, pulling out her phone, it was 6:15 AM...then an unknown sense of urgency erupted inside of her...'I'm gonna be late...late for what'. She thought to herself.
She was so lost in thought she didn't notice someone approaching her until she felt a tap on her shoulder. Looking up, Icarus sees a girl with blue eyes and blonde hair, and she's wearing the schools uniform too.
"Hey, you better hurry, you're gonna be late for school." With that, she ran off. Gripping her key, she decided to follow her but kept a safe distance. . . .
Leaning against a wall at the entrance of Domino High School, Icarus was catching my breath. That was a long run, and how did that other girl keep on running.
Sighing, Icarus composed herself and stood up to see a teacher walking towards her.
"Glad you made it on time Ms.Shadows come with me." he turned around and began walking inside. Icarus followed until they reached a classroom.
"Stay out here till I call you alright," he said, Icarus merely nodded and held onto her backpack straps, gripping them tightly.
"Ok everyone settle down, settle down we have a new student joining us today" whispers erupted between the students "Please come on in Ms.Shadows" Icarus never truly question but, how did he know her name...all well.
Walking in, she took a look around the classroom, and she immediately recognized Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Teá, Bakura, and Seto. Standing in front of the class, she simply smiled.
"Please, introduce yourself," the teacher said.
"Hello, my name is Icarus Shadows and umm I love playing duel monsters" this caught the attention of two people, one was Yugi who seemed to smile and the other was Seto, he was interested just for a moment before brushing it off and went back to his book.
"Very well, you may sit in anywhere you like," and with that, the teacher left the classroom to fetch the teacher's study guide from the break room.
There were three open seats, two near Yugi and his friend, the other near Seto. Smiling, Icarus went to the one next to Seto. Sitting down at the empty desk, she unpacked her things, humming to herself as she pulled out her notebook and pens before turning to look at Seto.
Noticing her stare, Seto looked up at Icarus with a confused yet hard glare. "What?" he unemotionally said.
Holding out her hand, she spoke, " I'm Icarus, nice to meet you, hope we can be friends."
Seto scoffed and turned back into his book. Earning a pout from Icarus, well, she suppose a straightforward response was out of the question. Seto is naturally standoffish towards anyone.
"Ma, don't worry about it girl sit next to us. Kaiba is a jerk. " Looking up, both Icarus and Seto saw who spoke. It was Joey Wheeler.
Seto grimaced at Joey before shutting his book in annoyance he opened his mouth to say something, but before he could, Icarus sat up straight. Giving off a threatening yet commanding presence.
"What's your name?" she spoke coldly to Joey.
Joey noticed the new girl's change in tone and visibly shivered. Don't get her wrong, Icarus likes Joey character. He's cool, but what Icarus hates is when anyone tells her who she can and can not be around.
"I'm Joey Wheeler," he finally said in a slightly scared voice, shrinking in his desk.
"Well, Wheeler, thanks for the offer, but I'll choose where to sit and decide who to speak to. Understand. " Icarus sat back down and noticed Seto looking at her before turning his head back towards his book.
Joey grumbled a bit while his friends laughed at him. She'll apologise to him later.
Pulling out her dark magician deck, Icarus started looking over her cards, also making sure that Yugi didn't see just in case he walked up to her for a duel. She wouldn't mind it, but still, she had some decent cards and laid them on her desk to formulate a strategy with the early yugioh mechanics. It's not too hard.
"Hey," looking to her right, Icarus saw Seto. He was eyeing her but more at her cards.
"Hm," she responded gently.
"Let's duel sometimes, I can tell you have some skill based on your cards. You'll offer a slight challenge for me." With that, he turned back to his book, and Icarus smiled softly.
"Yeah... sure."
'This world of Yu-Gi-Oh isn't that bad... but how long will I be here? Will I somehow return home?' She wondered while gripping her key and sighs. Unsure of her answers or if going home was a possibility.
