Chapter 12: The End of the World

This the final chapter of this story of Sword Art Online. It has been a wild ride and this was, in my opinion, one of the best stories I have written. And also, this chapter will have moments where you will need a tissue so be aware.

Floor 75

The Assault Team has finally made it to the 75th floor. Led by Commander Heathcliff, the members of Agil, Klein, the KOB, the Holy Dragon Alliance, Asuna aka the Lightning Flash, Kirito aka the Black Swordsman, Matsubaki aka the Assassin, and Jaynaki aka the White Angel. The door opens up and they all charge in the boss room.

Matsubaki's POV

I was with the Assault Team and we were looking around the room for the boss. Found out it's name is the Skull Reaper. If the Gleam Eyes wasn't bad enough, then that name takes the cake. "Guys! Above your heads!" Kirito shouted. I look above the ceiling. Holy shit! It's coming down and about to charge us. "Everybody get out of the area!" I yell. And there it was. An undead worm or caterpillar. "Jaynaki, Kirito, you know what to do. Flank and await for Asuna's or Heathcliff's orders. I will provide cover and get out while it is about to strike. Ready, now!" We all go for the attack. I hear Kirito say strike the legs. And we did. Okay Matsubaki, time to channel your inner Assassin. I work in the dark, to serve the light. We lost a few men but that won't stop us.

We freaking did it. The boss is finally slain. We look at Heathcliff who was surveying us and see how much less people around. We believe we lost almost 60% of the players. If this was Valley Forge, it'd be triple the casualties. And Heathcliff looked a bit suspicious. He hasn't have a scratch on him. "Hey Kirito." He looks at me. "Doesn't Heathcliff seem a bit.....shady?" I say. "Come to think of it, haven't seen him fight at all." "I got an idea. Follow my lead." I get my sword. I see Kirito do the same. "Guys, what are you doing?" I hear Jaynaki say to us. I motion my hand in front of her to keep it down. I thrust my sword in front of him to pick up speed. I go for the legs and Kirito does a frontal attack. And it does nothing to him. But something pops up in front of him.

IMMORTAL OBJECT

Jaynaki's POV

What was Kirito and Matsubaki thinking?! Attacking Heathcliff like that. They do the attack but he doesn't flinch. I see the icon that reads IMMORTAL OBJECT. What the hell is Heathcliff? Or is it Heathcliff himself?

Matsubaki's POV

I look up at the commander and he was surprised me and Kirito took the initiative of attacking him. "Tell me this, Black Swordsman and Assassin, what gives you the idea of attacking me out of the blue like that?" Heathcliff asked. "Let's recap what happened. Our duel to decide to join the KOB or let Asuna free, the skills you do, and your static posture were a dead giveaway." "And the way you use the shield to whack Matsubaki." Kirito added. "I was like: does Heathcliff fight like Achilles and Hercules? No, I found who Heathcliff really is." I say with a smile. "Ladies and gentlemen. General Heathcliff is actually....."

"Akihiko Kayaba!"

Jaynaki's POV

Are you kidding?! Heathcliff is actually Akihiko Kayaba. The man who trapped us in Sword Art Online for the past two years. What the hell?! Why was he disguising himself among the guild? Betrayal? Espionage? And now my husband and friend is confronting him.
