Chapter 10

Edward POV

My ears couldn’t believe what they were hearing. My eyes were basically bulging out of their sockets. If my heart could beat and blood flowed through my veins, my chest would be hammering as my face reddened.

She loved me.

The sheer thought made an exciting shiver go up my spine. I felt out of breath as I stared at the beautiful woman who had accepted me, wretch and all. She knew I was monster- a cold, dead piece of stone. And yet, she chose to see me not as a monster, but as a man – a man in love.

Her hold on my shirt loosened as she scooted closer and wrapper her arms around my neck, her weak limbs trying to push me as close as possible. I eagerly responded to her touch, wrapping my arms gently around her waist as I buried my face in the side of her neck, inhaling her sweet scent.

Bella smelt absolutely delectable, like flowers, honey, and fruit all mixed in one. It was intoxicating. But, no matter how much her sweet blood called to me, I would never hurt her.  She had become my life and my everything, and I wasn’t about to be responsible for such a loss.

“I love you, too,” I murmured quietly as I placed a chaste kiss on the skin of her neck. Pulling away, I continued to hold her in my arms as I stared into those magnificent orbs of chocolate. She had begun to weep tears of joy, and was smiling as she frantically wiped her face.

Bella laughed as she sniffed. “I’ve never been this happy before!”

I couldn’t help but to laugh with her as I nodded my head, leaned over and kissed her passionately. She smiled through the kiss as we clung to each other desperately. Falling back on the couch so I was lying down, I took Bella with me and positioned her to where she lay on top of me. Still without breaking the kiss, I sighed at the feel of an angel in my arms.

And just like that, our perfect little piece of heaven was ruined.

I was too absorbed with Bella to take note of anyone else around us, shutting out all other thoughts except my own. Of course, I couldn’t hear Bella, although I truly wish I could, so it was just me.

So when the door to my suite burst open and Alice, Jasper, and Emmett fell through and onto the floor, I was not the least bit happy. Bella quickly got off of me and moved to the other side of the couch, blushing like a tomato.

“Aw, you guys are in love!” Emmett yelled out as he hopped up and ran towards us. Bella smiled slightly as she looked down, still not feeling completely comfortable with so many people around.

“I knew it!” chirped Alice excitedly, still sprawled out on the flood next to her husband.

“Shocker,” replied Jasper with a laugh. She glared at him as she punched him in the shoulder. Getting up quickly, Alice skipped over to Bella and embraced her.

“Oh, Bella!” she squeaked, “I’m so happy for the both of you! You’re going to love our home in Forks, and we’ll get to do so much stuff togeth-“

“Alice!” I growled. “What is wrong with you?!”

Looking to my brothers, they hid their faces shamefully as I glowered.

“Why the hell can’t all of you ever leave me alone?! Is it too much to ask for? I certainly don’t think so!” My voice kept getting louder and louder as I continued. By now, I was breathing hard as growls ripped through my chest.

“Edward,” a soft voice that could only belong to one person murmured. Snapping out of my rage, I looked over to Bella as she got up off the couch and made her way towards me. Placing a soft hand on my arm, she looked at me with an indescribable expression.

“Please, calm down,” she whispered as she embraced me. “I don’t like to see you so upset. And I’m sure your siblings didn’t mean to anger you either.”

I looked over to my siblings with a hard face, waiting for their explanation. Emmett, deciding to be mature for once, spoke up first.

“Alice had a vision of the both of you confessing your love to each other,” he began, “But, she also saw Alec walking by, and he would have heard everything.”

“So,” Jasper interrupted, “There’s a possibility that we might’ve…set his cloak on fire to distract him for a little bit.”

“You see,” Alice piped in, “If it wasn’t for us, Bella would probably be having a whip put to her back right about now.”

Looking down to Bella safely in my arms, and then to my siblings once again, I couldn’t help but to sigh.

“I’m…sorry,” I said quietly. “I shouldn’t have gotten as upset as I did. I greatly appreciate what you’ve done, and I hope you can all forgive me.”

“Aw, group hug!” yelled Emmett as he and Alice bounded over to us, Jasper chuckling as he too soon followed. Emmett took Bella in one arm and me in the other, crushing us to his chest. I was thankful he remember to be extra careful with Bella, looking over to see her laughing as she hugged him back. Alice came up and wrapped her arms around Emmett on his right side, where Bella was, and Jasper came on the left where I was being held up.

“Okay,” I said slightly annoyed, “I think that’s enough group hugging.” Chuckling, we all detached ourselves from each other.

“So, what now?” Emmett said.

I looked over at Bella with a smile on my face.

“We tell Mom and Dad.”

Bella POV

Gulping nervously, I squeezed Edward’s hand as we made our way to his parents’ suite down the hall. I knew that Carlisle and Esme were very nice people, but would they accept the fact that there son had fallen in love with a human peasant?

We had finally reached the door and I couldn’t help but to feel quite anxious. Looking over to Edward, he could see how scared I was.

“Don’t worry,” he whispered as he leaned down to give me a kiss. Sighing with content, I closed my eyes at the feel of his cold lips on mine. We had gotten a little absorbed in the act, and we were now currently holding each other tightly as Edward deepened the kiss passionately.

Suddenly, the door to the suite had opened and their stood Edward’s parents with a look of amusement and shock on their faces. Edward and I had pulled apart at the sound, and I blushed furiously as I smoothed down my dress.

“Oh,” whispered Edward, obviously embarrassed.

By then, I knew that this family was nothing short of slightly dysfunctional.

And I loved it.
