Bella POV
For once, everything was . . . wonderful. Edward and his family have been visiting for three weeks and they've been the best three weeks of my entire life. He felt that it was of great importance that I properly meet his family. He had taken me to meet them one evening and at first I was absolutely terrified.I knew Edward and his father were extremely admirable, but I wasn't positive on whether the rest of the family was as well.
Thankfully, my slight fears were assuaged.
Carlisle's wife, Esme, was the kindest woman I had ever met. She hugged me and smiled towards me. Alice was extremely hyper, but I loved it. She made me feel bubbly inside, too. Her husband Jasper was a little quitter, but pleasant nonetheless. Emmett was like an older brother. When I first saw him, I was absolutely terrified of his huge and scary stature. But, in reality, he was the exact opposite. I would giggle every time Emmett called Edward "Eddie" and he glare at him. Emmett's wife, Rosalie, was . . . not exactly too pleasant. Giving me many cold and hard glares, I didn't converse with her too much
Alice, Edward, and I were currently residing in his suite, his sister reading a fashion magazine on the sofa while he was writing rapidly in a leather bound journal on the floor near the fireplace. Looking over Alice's shoulder slightly, my eyes struggled to make out the words. My eyebrows furrowed as I tried harder. She noticed my harsh staring.
"You wanna read?" she questioned with a raised eyebrow and light laugh. Immediately leaning back, I couldn't control the frown that appeared on my face. I shook my head.
"I can't, "I said simply.
"Why not?" asked a puzzled Edward, getting up from his spot on the floor and coming to sit next to me. My heart began to beat a little faster as he slightly moved closer to me. His sweet aroma that only vampires could have engulfed me, trapping me in it's hypnotizing embrace. What that man did to me!
"I . . . don't know how, Edward." I said as I hung my head in shame.
The slaves were not to be educated, only taught how to speak and understand certain words. Reading was a privilege and only for the superior class. My masters said we were too stupid to learn things like that. that it would just cause us more problems in life. And, at that time, I actually believed them. I still slightly did.
Edward's long fingers took hold of my chin loosely, pulling my head up and matching his gaze with mine. My mouth went slightly dry as I noticed the intimate, yet completely innocent, position we were in. It was his eyes that captivated me the most. They shown with compassion, tenderness, and even a sort of . . . benevolence. It was as if I could see into him; into his soul.
"Don't be ashamed, Bella," he spoke, effectively hurdling me back into the grips of reality, "I can teach you." A large smile appeared on my face as I nodded my head enthusiastically. Edward broke out into one of his dazzling smiles as he let go of my chin.
A slight cough had me turning to see Alice who had been completely forgotten of.
"I'll leave you two to it then," she said with a smug look and wink towards Edward. A low growl emitted from his chest as she zoomed out of the room, the door shutting softly behind her. His gaze fell upon me once more, showing the happiness that danced inside of him.
"Well, let's get started."

Forgive me, my fellow book lovers! I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a long time. School and work just take a lot of time out of my day. Also, I'm now taking some writing classes on line. Do you see any differences yet?
