June pulled back abruptly, eyes wide in horror as she realized what she'd done. Allie's mouth fell agape, but no words came from her mouth. June realized this was a slightly better alternative to Allie screaming at her, but it still wasn't ideal.

"Uh," Allie started, eyes planted firmly on June.

"I'm sorry," June blurted out. "I'm so, so, sorry."

She clasped a hand over her mouth, feeling the tears threatening to spill again. She couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with her that night. It seemed as though her default setting was on immediately resorting to tears.

"It's uh—" Allie started, but June soon cut her off.

"It was weird. I shouldn't have done that. I don't know why I did that," She rambled as the tears formed in her eyes. Allie took note of this and extended an arm out, placing a tentative hand on June's shoulder.

"It's okay," She shook her head. "Don't worry about it. We should just get some sleep."

"Yeah, right," June nodded her head, avoiding Allie's gaze.

"Seriously, don't worry about it," Allie restated, drawing June's gaze back up.

June's lips tugged upward into a weak half-smile before she turned to leave the room. Normally, they'd sleep in the same bed together, but after what she just did, the timing didn't seem right. Allie made no objections as she left, which she took as reassurance that she was right in leaving.

"God," June thought bitterly. "What was I thinking?"

She made her way down the stairs and over to the living room couch. It wasn't the most comfortable, but it was better than nothing, so June wasn't complaining. She grabbed a throw blanket and settled into the couch, wrapping it tightly around her. Some part of her hoped she would awake in the morning and all of this would just be some twisted dream.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, the sound of her phone dinging made her open her eyes. She knit her eyebrows together in confusion as she wondered who could possibly be texting her at this hour. She extended her arm out and reached for the phone, grasping it in her hand and quickly typing in her passcode to unlock it.

'Thanks for talking to me tonight.'

June read the text from Elle, followed by a pink heart emoji. She had never felt such a bittersweet emotion up until that point. On one hand, her heart swelled at the words, wanting so desperately for there to be something more between the two. Then, on the other hand, she knew their relationship was platonic, and it would always be platonic. For all she knew, she'd be stuck in this fake replica home forever, with all have her friends settling on various boys in town, leaving her alone forever.

Perhaps that was what scared her the most.

June was awoken in the morning by Cassandra shaking her. She seemed concerned, which was reasonable, seeing as Cassandra went to sleep before June even got there. The older blonde questioned why she was on the couch and whether or not she was okay before finally calming down.

"Do you want any breakfast before we go?" Cassandra questioned while turning and making her way towards the kitchen.

"Go?" June reiterated, cocking her head to the side as she yawned.

Her head ached and her body felt sore, but it wasn't so bad that it was unbearable. Just mildly inconvenient.

"Yeah, didn't Allie tell you? We've told all the girls in town to meet at the church at 10." With her words she glanced down at her watch, checking just how much time they had before they had to go.
