Better Than That

"Marina, do you love me?" Lana asked me. She was in one of those moods.

"Of course I do Elizabeth, you are the love of my life." I respond in a kind hearted way.

"But, nobody seems to love me anymore." The way she said it broke my heart. I could tell she was trying not to cry.

"No, no, no, Lizzy, my love. Please don't cry. I love you more than life itself. You mean everything to me." I say and I grab her hand and lead her to our room.

"Y-yea, I guess so. I mean, everyone I meet leaves me. And everyone I love eventually will leave, and be with someone else, and live a happy life without me." Lana says as she flopped onto our bed laying next to me.

"But I won't." I say and snuggle into her small chest.

She wraps her arms around me in a protective way. "Marina, I really hope so. I love you too much for you to leave."

"I love you too, Elizabeth." I say as we fall asleep in each other's arms.

"I want to have a child." Lizzy says and I almost spit out my cereal.

"WHAT?!" I say very surprised, knowing that she didn't want to have children.

"Well I kind of changed my mind and I want to be a mother." She says. Wow, she seems very sure of herself.

"Uh, oh my gosh! I've always wanted to be a mother! I'm so happy!"

"Um yeah, but I wanted to ask you if you wanted to carry the baby, or should I?" Lana asked.

"I think you should, you would be great at it!"

"Wow, I can't believe we are going to have a child together." She smiles.

I am going to be a mother....

"So Elizabeth, if we have a girl can we name her....."
