Chapter 1
Kit stared at the blinds over his window, watching the light from the sky disappear and no longer pierce its way through the plastic pieces.
Kit nervously looked towards his door and then back at his drawing tablet as he worked to finish his latest commission. He was being paid to draw a fairy for a cover to a new game and was almost done with the shading,
He stared at the fairies eyes and felt a bit sick.
He hated eyes.
He hated the feeling of them on him.
He looked over to his trashcan in the kitchen and then back at the window. It was almost dark enough for him to go outside and throw away the full bag.
He never wanted to go outside during the day, he could feel his neighbors eyes on him. He preferred to wait till night when they slept so he did not have to feel it. But even the night made him feel anxious because it was harder to see.
Kit swallowed as he held the tablets pen in his thin fingers.
Kit never left home unless absolutely necessary. He had left his parents as soon as he turned 18 and started renting a small apartment. He earned more than enough money from his drawings so he never had to actually get a job.
He did however have to leave to buy groceries sometimes when he couldn't get it delivered....or take out the garbage.
He ran his fingers through his shaggy blond hair and rubbed at his grey-blue eyes.
He wasn't really tired but staring at the picture as he worked at it all day was making his eyes ache.
After some more time passed his laptops clock flashed 11pm.
He glanced over at the trashcan and stood up. He slipped his tennis shoes on and grabbed his black coat, he tugged and twisted the bottom of his shorts as he stood in from on the door with the garbage bag.
"Come on...it's not dangerous you know this...its just like 40 feet away and then I can come back."
Kit nodded to himself as he grabbed the bag and walked out the door.
The hair stood up on the back of his neck as he walked further and further away towards the communal trash bins.
He dimly noticed that the moon above was full and bursting with light as he tossed the trash in. He closed the lid and sighed to himself.
"What was I worried about everything is fi-" He froze just as he had been walking back towards his apartment.
He could feel eyes.
His heart rate increased.
Someone was staring at him.
His breath came out as a wheeze and he clutched his shirt.
His feet flew to his door and he slammed it behind him.
A few seconds later he could hear a soft panting sound from behind it. Claws scraped on the concrete walkway leading to his door and a whine sounded out from the night.
Kit tilted his head in confusion.
"A....dog?"
Kit did like dogs but he had been sure it was not a dog that had been looking at him, nor had he even seen it.
Slowly Kit stood up and pressed his ear against the door.
It made another soft whine and its claws scraped at his front door.
Kit blinked and opened the door slightly, the chain lock still holding in place so it could only fit its muzzle inside.
He peered down at the black dog, looking in its face and gasped at what he saw.
Golden eyes, screaming with intelligence looked back at him.
The dog....wasn't even a dog but a giant wolf, capable of crushing his windpipe inside its jaws within seconds.
The wolf let out another whine and looked at him excitedly, its tail wagged behind it as its whole face perked up after seeing him.
Kit pressed lightly on the door hoping to encourage the wolf to move its muzzle. After it pulled away he slammed the door shut and fully locked it.
The wolf whined louder and its claws scraped at the door.
It let out a long howl after it realized he was not going to open up.
