Chapter 15

Kit hunched his shoulders up as he walked alongside Chance towards wherever he was being lead to.

Chance smirked down at his young mate.

"You do not need to be so tense I said you can hide behind me if you wish to?"

Kit groaned and rolled his eyes.

"And that totally doesn't sound wimpy at all does it?"

Chance flashed him a grin.

They came upon a woods not far from where Kit's apartment was, which surprised him since he had no idea that it existed.

But then again it wasn't like he had ever come in this direction in the almost 2 years of living in this town.

Chance pulled him gently through the brush and helped him over a fallen log.

The close intimacy as the man had his bare arms wrapped around Kits nody made his face heat up, especially when he got a whiff of the man's scent.

It smelled like a mixture of the woods and his shampoo.....hot chocolate but with a wild flair to it, spicy almost.

The man put him down and Kit scooted away in both embarrassment and because his anxiety seesawed dangerously from the contact.

He bit his lip and looked around while Chance moved forward.

Kit slowly followed after him, watching the man move effortlessly through the woods, seeming to know exactly where to put his feet.

Kits steps seemed to find all the wrong places and sometimes sink into moss or would crunch on leaves.

He frowned and watched the mans quiet movements before starting to copy them.

After a moment, the man turned his head slightly to look back at him curiously.

"Hah you are a quick learner... I thought I had lost you for second because you got so quiet." Chance grinned.

"I'm just putting my feet where you did, nothing special." Kit flushed and looked down shyly, stepping on a twig because he lost where the man had previously stepped.

The man chuckled.

"Well it seems you become unfocused easily though."

Kit glared at him.

"But as I said you are quite the quick learner, I've taken pups out like this before and it took them days to figure out how to step where I was, it took you less than an hour."

"...Why did you take out pups?" He asked curiously.

"Ah...I was training them to turn them into soldiers.. To protect the pack. They needed to learn how to move through the woods silently soon after learning to shift. They all grew up to be fine warriors." The man looked proud as he said this, making Kit wonder how old the guy was.

"Well it's not like I can pick up the instinct to know where to step even after following you for awhile... I can only copy you." Kit shrugged.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that."

Kit looked at him in confusion but the man did not say anything and turned around to continue to walk.

Kit followed him and paid more attention to where he walked, trying to figure out how the guy could tell where to step.

Was it the color? Was it certain plants or the way the gravel looked? He thought.

He looked at the man's feet and realized the man didn't have any shoes on.

Was he feeling the ground as he walked?

Kit considered doing this but knew his feet were not used to not having no shoes on outside.

"...Chance?"

"Yes Dear?"

"Is it because you are not wearing shoes?"

Chance chuckled.

"Not wearing shoes can help tell how the earth feels and by looking at the ground as well can help. Color is everything... right Mr. Artist?"

Kit flushed at yet another nickname and his eyes flashed over to the bag with all his art supplies in it, including his electronics.

The man had gone around his apartment, grabbing all the stuff Kit deemed essentials.

He had asked what he would take with him that was most important if he was going somewhere. So naturally that included all his art supplies and some clothes. It had confused Kit why the man had brought several changes of clothes, but the man said in case he got dirty in the woods during the tour.

Why he needed more than one pair was a mystery to him though.

The man had insisted on carrying all his luggage for him, making Kit feel a little useless as they walked through the woods.

It took around an hour or so for them to reach their supposed destination and once they did Kit's eyes widened.

Several houses were built around all the trees and a few in a clearing. The trees masked several of the homes in shadows. Making the houses seem as if they were built straight into the woodwork, as if they were just another part of it.

Kit blinked at the feeling it gave off.

It was....kind of perfect, seeming hidden..... Just how he would like it.

Chance gently pulled him behind him just as he began to hear a cacophony of what sounded like several things running towards them.

Kit blinked and held onto the man's arm from behind, his heart hammering as the sound grew louder and stopped.

"Alpha! You have returned! What is that scent?"

"Alpha we have business with the other pack coming tomorrow we need to set up the meeting place."

"ALPHA WHEN ARE YOU BRINGING YOUR MATE!"

Chance chuckled.

"That scent in my mate behind me right now... and we can work on the set up in a little while. My mate is a tad bit shy and doesn't like being stared at so he's hiding."

Kit became hyper aware of the three people staring holes through Chance.

They felt curious but the eyes could not see him so they did not scare him.

It felt weird to have eyes focused on him but not at the same time, the feeling was incredibly muted and only made him feel slightly anxious.

He clung harder to Chances arm.

"You are so paying me back with your body." Kit gasped out, meaning for his art.

He felt Chance rumbled with laughter.

"Why Dear my body already belongs to you... if you wish to take it for a test ride anytime I will GLADLY oblige."

Kit frowned and his face screwed up in shock once he realized the innuendo.

".............I meant for my picture." Kit hissed and Chance sighed.
