Chapter 3

He had to be stir crazy or maybe he had cabin fever......did those things cause hallucinations?

They probably did he decided.

"Maybe I should try going outside more...." Kit sighed as he began his next art piece for a book cover.

Being stir crazy from being inside so long was probably the reason why he had thought the wolf had laughed and said.........that.

Or maybe he hallucinated the wolf altogether.

Kit blinked and looked at his door.

He looked at his blinds and noted that the sun was gone, it was roughly 9:30pm so he figured most people would be inside by now.

He went over to his door and opened it a crack, looking down at the walkway where he had left the bowl.

It had been moved and was now empty.

Kit blanched and picked up the bowl before going back inside.

Maybe another animal had eaten it? He hoped.

But his gut feeling told him otherwise.

He sighed as he picked up his notepad, starting to write down all the things he needed to buy from the store tonight.

He had gotten some other things delivered but the only store that did that would not deliver perishables so he had to make due and go buy things like milk, meat, fruits, and vegetables at an actual store.

It was the thing he dreaded most every 2 weeks.

Kit changed into a pair of tight jeans and a forest green hoodie, pulling the hood up. He grabbed his keys and tote bags before going into the attached garage.

He got into his red cavalier and opened the garage door.

He carefully moved his car out of the garage and closed it behind him before moving out into the night.

He would never shop in the day time, he could barely manage to do it at night.

He would have preferred it if he could live off of canned goods from the place that actually delivered but he had learned his lesson when he tried to in the past.

He had often woken up in the middle of the night from charlie horses from lack of potassium. He had also been lacking in proper protein to the point where he felt like he could barely walk anymore.

Lesson learned.

Drink your milk.

Kit parked his car and walked through the deserted parking lot towards the 24 hour grocery store.

He went into the store and hunched over as he grabbed a cart, pushing it towards the grocery section. He made sure to grab everything off his list before going to the self checkout.

He was as quick as possible and left the store with the cart, happy he hadn't seen anyone at all besides the lady at the self checkout.

But she hadn't even acknowledged him, much to his relief.

"Maybe if all shopping trips were like this one I wouldn't hate them." He sighed.

He looked over at the park across the street from the grocery store and looked at the swings. He remembered thinking he needed to get out more since he might literally be going crazy and decided to swing on one of them for a few minutes.

Maybe that would help with his sanity?

He didnt know how going crazy from being inside to much worked.

He brought his car closer and carefully went out of it. He walked to the swings and sat on one hesitantly, feeling sort of silly as he gently swung on it.

He looked up at the waning moon and sighed, feeling stupid.

He did not know if this was going to even help or not yet here he was swinging on a swing like a child.

God why am I- he started to think before he felt a prickle in the back of his mind.

He looked up and around in confusion.

It felt like eyes were on him but.... Not as anxiety inducing as before....like the effect was slowly disappearing...similar to that wolf.

He panicked and stood up as his eyes darted around, wondering if the wolf had came here. He still had no idea if it was dangerous.

................I probably should have called animal control when I first saw it right?

His eyes darted around before landing on a man that was near his car.

His eyes were a beautiful golden color, his hair jet black and he was at least over 6ft tall.

But what confused Kit the most was that his eyes being on him barely bothered him at all. It didn't make him feel the need to curl up on the ground in a fetal position.

He could still feel it and it was in the back of his mind but......he could handle it.

The man gave him a soft smile and it was then that Kit realized the man was partially naked which made his eyes nearly pop out of his skull.

Was the man late night jogging or something? Could that be why he didn't have a freaking shirt on!?

Kit looked down at the ground in confusion feeling shy from the man's lack of proper clothing.

The sound of the man taking a step in his direction made him look back up in fear however.

The man raised both palms up in surrender, his eyes wide as he took another step.

Kit took a step back instinctually, not even caring if it was cowardly. He winced as he looked at his car, knowing he would have to get passed the man to get to it.
