Back Again [On Hold]

Chapter 6

Dee’s P.O.V.

    "OK Mum. I will go and see whatr she's up to. You know Dee, she'll be listening to really loud music. Bye. Take care!" 

     Quin and Chase looked totally confused, so I explained about my mum's accident. She's a bit of an airhead, so she fell down the stairs on the way to the phone and broke her leg. And, when she tried to call us, our phones weren't on us. Ash had felt really bad, so she slept with her phone. 

    “Look Guys I better go see what Ash is up to but I should be back in, like, 5 minutes” I said and made my way towards the door

I ran as fast as I could back to the flat. But, when I got there, it was too quiet. When Ash is there, I know about it. I can tell. But there was nothing. I could feel pain. It felt like…. Torture. Then I stepped into the front room and it made sense.

I ran to her room. It looked like she had put up quite a fight. There was blood all over the bed, and he laptop was smashed. So was her mobile. There was a missed call. From me. No wonder she hadn’t answered. There was paper everywhere.  

I don’t know how much later it was when I felt a hand on my shoulder and heard Quin let out a low whistle adding,

    “Oh. My. God.” She and Chase had brought a load of teachers.

   “Would you like to explain what happened in here Miss Racer, because I sure would like to know” Mr. Gorden said.

   “They took her, they hit her, and smashed her phone and laptop, they knocked her unconscious and took her somewhere whilst she was bleeding and couldn’t fight back. I don’t know where she is or who took her but I know that’s what happened and I wasn’t there to help her, or to save her” I sobbed.

   Quin came over and hugged me on one side and Chase did the same on the other but it made me feel even worse because when Ash needed us we weren't there to help her. And now she had disappeared and whoever took her was probably planning to hurt her even more than they did in this room.

    “We can’t tell Mum. She’ll do something stupid.”

     “Sorry Miss Racer but we will have to inform your mother” said Mr Gordon looking slightly taken back that I knew all what happened

    “You can’t she’ll blow her nut if she finds out! And I won’t be clearing it up.”

    “Look Deserai, she’s gonna find out anyway maybe it would be best if” Kendra started, I looked at her like she was mental but she continued “maybe it would be best if you told her…”

    “No I can’t do that to her she’d…”

    “Hello, mum what? Wait slowdown, how did you know that, OK well where are you? WHAT?! Um… OK. I’ll be there in like 10 minutes” she turned back to the others

     “SHE KNOWS HOW DOES SHE KNOW?!” I screamed “I have to meet her at the station, her train gets in in 5 minutes” I said looking at my watch.

     Then, waving good bye to the others I got a cab to the station where Mum was waiting for me, I ran up to her and collapsed into her arms sobbing. After a few moments I got a hold of myself, straightened up and plucked up the courage to ask Mum how she knew about Ash she didn’t answer for a moment or two then shook her head saying she would explain later in a more private place.

     We arrived back at the apartment twenty minutes later to find most of the others siting around the table whilst a policeman was questioning Chase in the kitchen. Once finished the policeman- whom was a very nice man called Charlie talked to me and mom asking things like how mum knew to come (she said she was planning on surprising us, which by the way was a total lie) and if Ash and me had had any arguments or made any enemies in the past few weeks, the answer was no but I did tell him about the party and now she won’t leave me alone, keeps asking how many times one of us has been in the hospital that she doesn’t know about whilst we’ve been at school, it’s quite a few considering we have our own room there and everything although that’s more to so with the fact that in our first year we both caught some horrible illness and was in the intensive care unit for almost a full term.

    That night was awful, I stayed in one of the spare apartments with Mom and Quin as mine was taped off and none of us got much sleep.
