Epilogue
Today, almost two years later, Lucas and Anika live with their dad and are happy there. Anika goes to counseling once a week to help her recover from what Alex did and is dating Aaron McNeal, he knows about what happened and tries to help her move on. Ashley is out of jail and can go visit them as long as another adult is present.
I am finishing high school and Derrick and I will be getting married in June. We live together with our Destiny. She is a bouncy little toddler at one and a half. She makes us smile every day and I haven't once regretted keeping her. Destiny is Derrick's daughter in every way except genetics, in every way that matters. He would give his life for her. I'm happy now. I know Alex will probably never get out of jail and that he has no rights to see Destiny, because Derrick is the father in the birth certificate and the courts have taken his parental rights. Derrick wants to give her a brother or sister after we get married.
I guess fairy tale endings can happen in real life too. Mine has. I hope for the best and I know now that I was meant to have Destiny. I know that I did nothing wrong now and I have stopped blaming myself. I have found love and happiness. Now that my story is out, I can move on and find peace. . .
