The role of responsibility has always been forced on Cassandra but after she had moved abroad to Australia that responsibility fell onto Allie. She had always wanted it but since Cassandra moved she now hates it. Her parents had always expected something from her ever since, but it seems like she always disappointed in some way. Going off to college was the best decision she made.

She never really thought about what her parents thought of her now that she is buried with her studies and hanging out with her friends. Sure, she missed Cassandra, but she never really made or kept a connection with her, she was too focused on her studies and Allie was too focused on getting drunk at parties and trying to make the most of the high school experience. They were polar opposites that never saw eye to eye.

But once Allie started college, a lot changed for her, new friends, old friends, better experiences and the feeling of being free of all judgment and expectations. She doesn't like to dwell on these sorts of thoughts.

She will admit that she is sort of a leader within the group of friends she has. That sort of natural leadership must've been in her all along, she just wasn't in the right situations to realise.

Baking. Baking helps dealing with these thoughts, which is what she is doing right now. After finishing a thesis on how Iceland went bankrupt after the Wall Street Crash, she thought it was best to bake a couple of things. She starts getting the ingredients out for snickerdoodles.

Hours pass, and the front door opens, signallingto Allie that Harry is home. When he walks in, he is met with the sight of Allie dancing in the kitchen, the bench filled with an assortment of sweets.

'Hey, I made you some brownies to take to Elle and Becca's,' she gives him a plate, gives him a kiss on the cheek and shoo's him out the door.

After he's gone, Allie goes and sits down on the couch putting Netflix on. God knows she deserves a break. Allie plays the next episode of suits, really only getting up to get food or go to the toilet. She starts to drift off to sleep and ends up snuggling up in the blankets.

Hours pass and she can feel someone lift her up, she doesn't bother waking up fully because as soon as she was lifted up she was placed on her bed and she fell into a deeper sleep once her head hit the pillow.

Allie wakes up to the sound of Harry belted out Pumped Up Kicks in the kitchen. She rubs her eyes, letting them adjust to the bright light streaming through the window,".

Midway pulling some socks on, her phone chimes. It's a text from Gordie, something about meeting up for a study group later.

Allie walks into the kitchen to see Harry making breakfast while dancing to another song. A smile is brought to her face, she loves living with her best friend.

'Hey Allie, can you make some coffeeee please,' Harry says while flipping pancakes. She smiles bumping her hip into his, making him move over slightly so she could grab the coffee.

They both sit down at the kitchen bench, talking about what ever happened in the past couple of days, just catching up and getting on the same page of different issues.

Allie watches Harry fall animatedly about last night at Elle and Becca's. She smiles, she is so glad that Harry is her best and closet friend, he is practically her brother from another mother. She wouldn't know what she would do without him. A hole that was in her heart was filled instantly when she met the boy.

Once she knew that the hole was filled, she wouldn't be worried about feeling lonely every again. But she knew it was partly her fault that she felt alone before she met Harry, just as much as it was Cassandra and her parents. She shakes those thoughts from her head, focusing on living in the present and not the past.

That is something she is still learning. To let go of the past, live in the present and hope for the future.
