A week later:
It had been a week since Khushi had fled away from his bedroom, and she had been extra careful to not come in front of him.
Arnav's eyes searched for her everytime he entered the house, and specially during dinner times to see if he could get a glimpse of her near the kitchen. He was disappointed almost every day...
On the other hand, work had gotten extremely hectic for him.
His schedule was blocked with meetings back to back. Aman was at the receiving end as usual. The new branch office of AR required Arnav to travel to Mumbai, but Arvind had outright refused Arnav's travel plans due to his delicate health. So, Aman had accompanied Akash to the Mumbai office instead.
Aman had made sure that Brenda would assist Arnav in his absence.
Since the deal with the Leon industries of Zurich had been a success, Arnav and Brenda were swamped with meetings and organization. When Brenda had stepped out to the main office to get some paperwork done, Robert Desouza, his chief security officer, sneaked into Arnav's cabin during lunch break.
"Robert", Arnav was surprised
"Yes sir", Robert was polite and precise, "A matter of extreme confidentiality has come up. I couldn't afford to speak in front of your assistant. I am sorry"
"I understand", Arnav knew his loyal security officer through and through, "Go ahead Robert"
"Sir, I am expecting one other person to join us in this meeting"
Arnav's question regarding who it was, was answered by the person coming into his cabin smoothly.
"Dad?"
"Arnav, Robert wanted to me to cancel my meetings and be here, at any cost", Arvind sounded worried, "What is it Robert?"
Robert locked the door and curtains before proceeding to drop the bombshell, "ASR, my sources have confirmed that the accident that you were involved in, two years ago, was actually a hit on your life. "
"What?" two voices sounded at the same time
"How...Who?", Arvind was angry and distressed
"We don't know sir. It could be someone from the family or from AR", Robert said a bit apologetically, "I need more time to find that out"
"You had an inkling about that", Arnav said suddenly, "Didn't you Robert?"
"Yes sir"
"Then why didn't you tell us that before?", Arvind was a tad angry
