Day 1:
You awoke that morning feeling groggy.Sighing, you got out of bed and opened your blinds further, staring out at the boring neighborhood street.
Something felt off; your heart ached a little bit more today. You figured it must just be one of "those" days. A particularly bad day. You were having a lot of those recently.
You stretched, the sunlight bouncing off of the walls in your room. Your brain felt fuzzy.
Did I dream last night?
It was a very odd feeling. You could tell that you had had a weird dream, but nothing was surfacing.
This didn't faze you at all though, you always remembered your dreams later in the day. You figured that after work, you'd probably remember it.
Ugh, work.
You really were having a bad day. The pit in your stomach when you thought of going to your mundane job working at a cash register was the size of a watermelon today.
Gosh, you just felt off.
You slowly got dressed. You considered for a moment just calling off sick, but you did that twice last week, so you decided against it.
After getting dressed, and at least trying to look presentable, you walked over to your couch where your laptop was laid. You lifted the screen and logged on to the scheduling app your work used.
There was only one problem: you weren't scheduled. At all. You weren't scheduled for the next two weeks.
That's odd. Did I get fired?
A sudden pain in your head distracted you from your work problem. Your head suddenly felt a throbbing ache and you reached up to grab it.
Maybe I'm hungover?
You groaned and walked into the kitchen area to get some painkillers from your medicine cabinet.
Just as you put the three pills in your mouth, the first flash from your dream happened. It was fleeting and you felt for a moment you had just imagined it. But, no, it felt familiar.
You saw the face of your cousin, Michael. This was so weird to you because you haven't seen Michael since Christmas. You guessed that meant it was a sign to go visit him soon.
Well, you decided, if I'm not scheduled then I'm not going in. I'll ask about it tomorrow.
Feeling a little better knowing that you didn't have to deal with people today, you snuggled up on your couch and turned on your favorite Netflix show.
You still felt wrong. Everything just seemed so dull. You wanted something exciting in your life. You wanted to travel the world, no, the galaxy. You wanted someone to share these adventures with.
But, you had no one. And you figured that maybe you never would.

Day 2:
You woke up sweating. Looking over at your clock, you saw that it was only 5:30 in the morning.
You had been frightened out of sleep from a terrible nightmare.
Since when do I have nightmares?
You couldn't remember the last time that you had had one. Maybe when you were younger? When you were like ten?
You felt irrationally afraid and alone in that moment. You got up and drank a glass of water. You were tired enough to want to go back to sleep, but you did not want to fall into another night terror.
