Mornings at Riverside stable were never as glorious to him as they were to others. In fact, Link much prefered the rainy weather when he was traveling across the plains. But the sunshine was not what bothered him, it was the reaction of the people and animals. The sunshine meant more enemies out and about, even after ganon had been defeated. More animals meant more prey. And it was, for that reason, Link couldn't help but struggle to bring himself out of bed.
Leaving the stable was always difficult in the past. He enjoyed conversations with the people here, questioning him about his mystical sword and his many adventures. But that was back when he was actively exploring and learning about his past. They were usually kind, but often doubted him.
The second he saw Zelda after defeating the beast, everything rushed back into his head. Their travels, their arguements. Everything was so overwhelming and painful. Which was why he went into hiding in the first place. He had stayed silent in the past to deal with everything at stake, but when everything is suddenly saved, what was he to do?
As Link exited the stable, he politely requested that his trusty companion, Vuthipir be brought to him. nd the stable keepers did just that. The large gray creature approached him, his black mane concealed by the monster gear meant to disguise the horse. After using Vuthipir to battle the Beast, he became quite popular. The Monster gear served as both a disguise, and a way to keep other monsters from preying on him.
Upon mounting Vuthipir, Link was reminded of how long he had known this horse. The two had first encountered one another during his journey to Rito Village. After discovering a rather hidden shrine on the side of the mountain, he decided to explore it for more. Coming across a very powerful herd of horses. Vuthipir was the one to stick out to him, his stamina unparalleled and his other feats very high as well.
Memories aside, Link urged Vuthipir forward at a steady trot pace. As he did so, Link glanced over at the clear castle. He could almost hear the festivities from here. With the help of most remaining Hylians and travelors, the Castle Town had been restored. Or at least the majority of it. There had been a festival lasting for nearly a week since it's completion. Link did not blame them, they certainly deserved all of the comfort after the atrocities of the calamity.
Almost immediantly after thinking of the calamity, Link heard the sword strapped to Vuthipir make a noise. He kept the Master Sword with his companion as much as he could to avoid being recognized. Which included painting the hilt black in order to make it appear as if it were just another royal guard broadsword. It was also a quick and easy way to please the woman asking for one of those weapons.
But, back to the noise. The Sword had been making odd noises every now and then since ganons defeat. It were as if it spoke to him. Most times, he left the weapon alone to make sure that it wouldn't explode or something. Despite believing he and the weapon were one, it'd be a shame to die by mechanical issues. Like many people did after his failure. One hundred years ago.
But this time, he couldn't help but allow the curiosity get the best of him. He slowly removed the blade from its golden sheath, watching as it glowed in an almost aggressive manner. Flickering like it did when he had fallen. Link blinked, listening carefully. It were as if there was a strange voice coming from it, words that he just couldn't understand. But none of that would matter... he needed to return the blade to its pedestal anyway.
Link knew that what he had planned was... foolish. He knew that many would see it as a weakness in his supposedly invincible mental state. They were always wrong. Each and every time someone would find out of his status, or doubt him... he cracked. Playing the role of a hero for a land he could not even remember was hard. Very hard.
It wasn't just the sword sometimes either. In shadowy places, he felt like another incomprehensible voice was calling to him from below, or above. He never knew. He even heard a voice at a Great Fairy Fountain, and within tall grass. He had addressed the Great Fairy about it, but she simply stated he must've heard things.
