"AMITIE!" Raffine tackled her in her arms and fell into the hedge down the muddy hillside and landed in the bay by the river. Raffine held onto her tighter and clutched her hard as Amitie trembled and grabbed Raffines arms. Raffine turned pink and let her go.
"Amitie! Oh my god, I- are you okay?!" Raffine said, turning Amitie towards her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Amitie had bruised hands and a skinned dirty knee. Raffine scooped up some water and rubbed it on Amities knee. "I- I didn't- I'm-" Raffine said, looking up at the broken tree. Amitie tilted her head and noticed Raffine eyes were...watering? She didn't think that Raffine could show such open emotions in front of her, it felt...new.
Amitie smiled and touched Raffines hand "It's not your fault, Raffine." Raffine looked up at Amitie and wiped her eyes.
"It's just stream water," Raffine said, turning to the river to wash her hands a bit more. Amitie took off her shoes and dipped her bruised legs into the water. Raffine splashed water on her face and her eyebrows furrowed, and mouth twitched in guilt.
Sure I don't like Amitie, but I don't want to hurt her! This is all my- No! This is her fault! She shouldn't have interrupted me!
Raffine turned to Amitie to yell at her for causing this but she just couldn't. Her usually mean cruel tongue couldn't spit a word out. Instead, she just took off her school tie and dipped it into the water. She held the wet tie out of the water and handed it to Amitie, "Here, for your cuts." Amitie wiped her knee with it and then looked at Raffine who was covered in bruises and wounds from the fall down the hill. Amitie took her legs out of the river and sat in front of Raffine. Raffine looked at her confused when suddenly Amitie placed a hand on her cheek and the wet tie on her forehead. "You got hurt too!" Raffines face turned bright red, and she locked eyes with her. "Ah- I..." Raffine clenched her fists and pushed Amitie off. "I can take care of myself!" Raffine yelled, standing up.
"Oh, right, I'm sorry."
No! I'm sorry! I kicked the tree, and you got hurt because of me! I'm sorry, Amitie!
But she didn't say that she couldn't let people see her weak. She just loosened her anger up and felt tears well in her eyes, causing her to turn away from Amitie and cover her face. Amitie stood up and lifted her hand to touch Raffines back before hugging her from behind. Raffine tensed up and froze.
"What the hell are you doing-?!"
"It's okay to be sad Raffine..."
Raffine looked down at Amities arms wrapped around her waist and then down at her feet. She saw tears fall onto her shoes, and she quickly wiped her eyes "I'm not sad! I'm angry!" Raffine cursed, breaking her grip from Amitie.
"I'm angry at YOU for causing this! Why didn't you just stay behind like I told you to? Or just leave me alone before you made me destroy my favorite tree!?" Raffine tightened her fists and felt her eyes fill with more tears. Amitie cupped her hands and looked at the ground, "I said I was sorry."
"DAMN IT! LEAVE ME ALONE, AMITIE!" Raffine screamed. Suddenly, the tears she didn't want anyone to see were now leaking from her closed eyes. She blushed out of embarrassment and covered her face before sprinting down the river and out of sight. Amitie looked down at Raffines tie and tightened her grip on it.
