Chapter 2: Getting to Know your Roommate

"Hi I'm Niall"

Those three simple words just shifted my entire world. He was Irish. I could tell by the accent. I had seen pictures of him before (we became Facebook friends as soon as we found out our roommate assignments), but the pictures did him no justice. He has pale, white skin, but it suited him perfectly. His dyed blonde hair stuck up on his head in all the right places. And then his eyes. Those eyes were the most piercing, bluest eyes I had ever seen.

"I hope you don't mind I'm on this side of the room. I could move my things if you want." He is so polite.

"No that's ok. This side is good."

"Great!"

So I began assembling my bed with his help. After about an hour and a half of struggling with the parts we decided to take a break and go get some food. He drove to a nearby restaurant that served the typical cuisines. Once we placed our orders he started asking me basic, but important questions.

"So how early do you wake up in the morning?"

"Well on weekends I sleep pretty late, but I have morning class Monday through Thursday." I replied.

"Well that works out great! Me too!"

We caried on getting to know the basics about each other like what kind of music we like, what we do for fun, and other things like that. It turns out we have a lot in common. I really think this year will work out well.

We went back to the dorms and had our floor meeting before we started planning what to do with the rest of the room. Dorm rooms have plain white walls, and it's dull and boring if you don't decorate it.

"Dude check out the girls across the hall" Niall said. I felt a pang I jealousy and hurt run through me. of course he was straight.

"Ummm.. yea. They're cute."
"Do you think they're single?"
"The only way to know is to ask them. we might as well at least say hi since we'll be living across from them for awhile."

So we went and introduced ourselves. The girls were nice, but I didn't see us becoming good friends, especially since Niall seems to have taken an interest in them already. This was going to be one long year.
