2 Months Later"Onii-chan! You've been cooped up inside that thing for SO long!! That's enough!!", Yuuki yelled and grabbed the NerveGear from Kazuto's head. "HEY, HEY, HEY! THE BOSS!!"
Kazuto glared at his sister who glared back harder, and eventually gave in. She was not wrong, though. For the past two months, he practically lived in Aincrad, farming XP, gaining bonuses from side quests and using all of them for the boss fights. It was almost as if he was more familiar with the map of Aincrad than the map of Tokyo, his own city.
"You've already defeated so many bosses, Nii-chan. Nobody will notice if you miss out on one of them. Plus, there are eighty two bosses remaining, aren't there? Be patient. You can play after lunch!", Yuuki scolded and went out of his room with his NerveGear.
Kazuto groaned and went the dining room, taking his seat. Suguha had left already for Kendo practice due to the girls' tournament coming up.
"I'm making curry and rice for lunch"
"Did you call me because you set the kitchen on fire?", Kazuto asked, walking towards the kitchen and Yuuki punched his arm with a pout.
"I can cook better than you, you know?", she countered, stomping her foot on the ground like a child and sat on the kitchen table with a huff, folding her arms across her chest and looked away, with her nose up in the air.
"Is Kayaba-san happy with your codes?", Yuuki asked after calming down and he smiled, answering her question without words. After a highly positive response for Yui, Kayaba started to pull in favours from Kazuto, asking him to design layouts and response mechanisms. He even got to meet another person he admired in the field of mechatronics - Higa Takeru.
Kazuto expected Akihiko to play his role down, but to his surprise, he had openly mentioned Kazuto's contributions to the game and needles to say, Kazuto became a known figure in his neighbourhood, agitating his reserved personality even more. The nail on top of the coffin was the day his picture was released along with Kayaba's on the front page of a gaming magazine, and if it wasn't for the women in the house, he might have planned a year long trip to Alaska or some plateau near Mount Fujiyama.
"What else is in store for SAO, Wonder kid?", Yuuki asked with a teasing smirk, and Kazuto got ready to leave the room before Yuuki grabbed his wrist. "Okay, okay, okay! I won't call you by that name, well, title, anymore!"
That day was pure horror for Kazuto. It was bad enough that the magazine had mentioned his name, but in addition to that, he was called the Wonder Kid by the magazine, and he had half a mind in suing the magazine, but Midori had talked him out if it.
"Lunch should be ready now, Nii-chan!"
"Great! Let's get the horror story done with!!"
"Well....IF YOU HATE MY COOKING SO MUCH, THEN YOU CAN COOK BY YOURSELF, YOU KNOW?"
Time Skip
"Finally! No deliveryman to deliver mails, no noisy sister to interrupt me, plain bliss", Kazuto whispered to himself as he slipped his NerveGear over his head.
"NII-CHAN!! I'M ALSO COMING!!", he heard Yuuki yell from her room and he just sighed in response.
"Link Start!!"
The NerveGear checked his vitals before going into the login page. Kazuto mentally typed in his username Kirito and password before taking in a deep breath.
Another wave of colours passed through and a couple of seconds later, Kazuto opened his eyes, sighing in relief on seeing the place where he finally felt like he belonged perfectly.
